Our Annual Fundraising Auction !
This Year with Vashon Island Unitarian Fellowship
Saturday Evening, November 11, 2017
Our Annual Tahoma UU Congregation Fundraising Auction!
Saturday Evening, November 11, 2017, 5:30 p.m.

New Beginnings!

This year we are partnering with the Vashon Island Unitarian Fellowship for our auction -- we'll be doing some new things, and we are seeking some great donations to be auctioned off. VIUF has already committed to some great auction items, including a 5-night accommodation in Las Vegas during the Consumer Electronics show in January 2018 (value $2,000). Money raised from VIUF donations will go to their congregation, so we need to get some great donations from TUUC members as well!

Our auction dinner will be catered by a professional caterer from Vashon who is also a member of the VIUF. There will be vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options.

A couple of our high-ticket items will also be prizes in our raffle, so regardless of your financial means, you might go home with a very special win!

We're seeking donations of items and/or services with a value of $25+.  Please consider the following:
  • Host a dinner at your home
  • Offer up a service - for example, financial planning, housecleaning, yard-work, painting, pet sitting
  • Vacations at your vacation home
  • Trips using frequent flyer miles
  • Artwork - handmade by you or others
  • Solicit donations from local businesses - restaurants, auto repair shops, drycleaners, etc.
  • Check with your employers (as reasonable) to see if there is a service or product that they will donate
  • Movie tickets
  • Gift certificates
Because our auction has always been an important source of funding for our Congregation's programs, I challenge every member of TUUC, as you are able, to try to identify something with a value of at least $25 that you can donate or solicit from another source as a donation.

Let's make our auction event a great success!

Ellen Watson
Auction Chair

Auction donation forms available this Sunday along with tickets to purchase by cash or check for auction admission. Auction donation forms can also be printed from our website.

"Get Proximate"
Rev. Dr. Linda A. Hart
Worship Service
Sunday, November 12, 2017, 10:30 a.m.

Bryan Stevenson, author of Just Mercy, spoke at the UUA’s General Assembly this year and outlined four ways that we can be part of building a different future. Over the year, we’ll spend time on each of his suggestions. The first is the invitation to get proximate — close to — people on the margins. After the service, there will be an opportunity to explore some ways to do that.

Chalice Circles are an important part of our church life. They provide an opportunity to be in a smaller group and explore ideas and possibilities and make meaning out of the world. We engage in the spiritual practice of deep listening. This "Sometimes Circle" is one of the monthly opportunities to be part of one of our circles with other congregation members. The group is open to both Tahoma UU members and friends. Each of our Sometimes Circles sessions is a unique experience such as meeting in a coffee shop on a Saturday morning, like this one, or in combination with a potluck dinner. You decide how many sessions you want to attend. Register two or three weeks in advance for each individual session with Susie Maharry.
