Empowering Communities
Programme Launch

The Empowering Communities Partnership is proud to launch its new programme of support for the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector.

We have introduced some new features to our offer, including a single point of contact for enquiries, a partnership events calendar, and a new Partnership Newsletter and online Funding notice board, which we hope will make it easier to access the right support and find information.

You can find out all about the partnership programme on our new website!

As a VCSE leader what would you want from a Network of leaders?

The Empowering Communities Partnership recognizes the huge challenges facing communities and VCSE organisations, as we emerge from the Pandemic and face the worst cost-of-living crisis since the 1950’s. Providing a space for leaders to come together to share challenges, and identify solutions and opportunities feels more important now that ever. On 11th May we are holding an open session for VCSE leaders to come together to understand what leaders want from a ‘Leaders' Voice Network’.

Volunteer Passport launched

The Empowering Communities Partnership continues to develop the Norfolk Volunteer Passport, which gives volunteers the skills they need in most volunteering opportunities. 37 volunteers have completed the core six-week training course so far. Voluntary organisations, community groups and charities can request support from volunteer passport holders, alleviating therefore some of the paperwork involved in finding volunteers.

We have therefore gathered together the latest advice and updates, which you can find on our website.

Changes to how Trustees can hold their meetings

During lockdown, the Charity Commission relaxed requirements on how Trustee meetings and AGMs (Annual General Meetings) could be held, so that these could take place virtually. This allowed charities the opportunity to arrange meetings in methods not contained within their governing document. However from Fri 22nd April this allowance will cease and charities will have to carry out their meetings as set out in their governing document. Click here for more information.

For most charities, their governing document will pre-date the option to hold virtual meetings. For charities who wish to continue to meet virtually, they will need to amend their governing document. We can provide advice around how to do this.

You said, we listened

In our last survey in autumn 2021 you told us that Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) was your more pressing need. We're therefore delighted that we can offer Norfolk organisations places on the Creating a Culture of Inclusion sessions delivered by Community Action Suffolk.
