An Update
Community Access
Community Access Naperville's mission is to empower people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to work in, contribute to, and enjoy their community. This mission is fulfilled at every CAN session, thanks to our dedicated volunteers, interns, financial donors, staff, and non-profit partners!

We appreciate your taking the time to read our updates.  Links in blue will take you to more in-depth information.

Our last "in-person" session was on Friday, March 13, but we're still here!  Our program leader Vanessa coordinates and supervises our interns as they visit with small groups of participants online via Zoom each weekday.  Each 30-minute session includes greetings, a variety of activities, and show and tell.  Participants are enjoying these opportunities to spend time with their friends, and the sessions add a little bit of structure to their days.

In addition to our small-group zoom sessions, CAN now also provides online music sessions twice a week.  Participants are enjoying their favorite songs and movement activities with Rozie, our music therapist.

We are happy to announce that Community Access Naperville has received a grant from the Illinois Council for Developmental Disabilities COVID-19 Relief Fund.  This grant will cover our costs for about ten weeks of the online activities described above.
We are also pleased to announce that we have received a Paycheck Protection Program Loan.  We were quick to apply as soon as the CARES Act was passed!  With this forgivable loan, we will be able to pay our wonderful staff for April and May, in spite of the fact that all sessions have been canceled during this difficult time.

We hope to resume in-person sessions in June, possibly with modifications that include shortened time frames and/or smaller groups, but there are too many unknowns at this point to make definite plans.  Our top priority is that our participants and staff are safe.
Participant tuition does not cover all of our staff and activity expenses, so we rely on donations to close the gap.  With so much uncertainty about what's to come, we would appreciate your help as we strive to keep our organization financially stable through the summer.
Click here to donate online through our website, or mail your check to Community Access Naperville, 25 E Benton Ave., Naperville IL  60540.  Community Access Naperville is a 501c3 non-profit organization.  Donations are tax-deductible to the full amount permitted by law, and may be eligible for a matching donation from your employer.
Please plan to join us on Thursday, September 24, 6:00 - 9:00 pm, at Meson Sabika in Naperville for our annual fundraiser.  We hope to see you there!
