ON THE RADAR
TOM FORD // BOWERY STATION + 168 BOWERY

After being named the new chairman of the CDFA in June, Tom Ford shortened New York Fashion Week, allowing more designers to produce more experiential events rather than the standard runway show. However, while Ford stuck to the traditional runway model, he was a game-changer in the setting. He arranged for a 180-guest private viewing on the platform of the former Bowery Station, utilizing 168 Bowery for back of house and a private after party at the adjacent famed dumpling parlor, Nomwah.

McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler returned to NYFW with a collection that struck a balanced medium between couture and sportswear, utilizing structed tailoring with soft draping. For its show this season, they landed one of the most sought after venues on the market, our West 27th St Pop-Up, located on the ground floor of West Chelsea's famed Starrett-Lehigh building. Offering over 10,500 SF of new construction and lofty 21 FT ceilings, this industrial chic space was a natural choice for a fashion show. The row of 13 FT windows facing West 27th Street provides abundant natural light and four double glass doors allow for convenient guest entrance and egress. Wide width columns approximately 18 FT apart also lend themselves to generous sight lines and flow.

Elevated denim-driven brand R13 showed at Starrett-Lehigh's West 27th St Pop-Up. The luxury brand showed an eclectic mix of colorful patterns and textures heavily influenced by authentic American traditions and history. Known for being rugged yet chic, while remaining unpretentious and genuine, the brand presented true to form.

ALICE + OLIVIA // ROOT NYC

Every season, Alice + Olivia designer, Stacey Bendet, showcases her newest collection with highly impressive, intricate and detailed sets. This NYFW, she took over the bottom floor of ROOT NYC with a series of vignettes that represented the narrative of this season. Although crowded and filled with celebrity influencers such as Sofia Richie, the experiential presentation reinforced the ethos of the Alice + Olivia brand: make a statement, go big and have fun.
