Carriage House at Waverly Place for the holidays! The Carriage House is an elegant statement venue in the heart of Greenwich Village. Constructed in 1826, the Carriage House was the former residence of notable playwright Lorraine Hansberry (A Raisin in the Sun) and a hub for artists and thought leaders in the 1960’s, including Nina Simone, James Baldwin, Lena Horne, and Harry Belafonte. Later in the 1990’s, it was the home of Kate Moss and then fiancé Johnny Depp.
The Carriage House offers clients a quintessential upscale New York experience. Both corporate and social event friendly, guests easily enter the 1,800 SF triplex through the main building and cross one of two private courtyards that are heat lamp friendly and included in the rental. The Great Room features 25-ft high ceilings, a vaulted skylight and a working wood burning fire place. The recently renovated kitchen is complete with a concealed Subzero refrigerator and full size wine cooler, gas range, convection oven, and finished with high-end Italian cabinets and fixtures. The downstairs Suite adds additional space for entertaining or for back of house, while the Loft is a dramatic overlook for a DJ or focal point.
Carriage House at Waverly Place is an elevated choice for a host of events looking for drama, sophistication and exclusivity. It can accommodate 75 guests for cocktails (with minimal furnishings) or up to 40 for a seated dinner on either level.
