Sara Roberts organized a Salute to Graduates, honoring students graduating in the Fall 2017 semester. The event was held in the 2nd-floor student lounge on December 15th, 2017.

Esteban Bogantes receives his Widaman Distinguished Graduate Assistant Award from Dean Archie Clutter
Esteban Bogantes was a recipient of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Widaman Distinguished Graduate Assistant Award. The Widaman Trust was established in 1975 through a generous gift provided to the University of Nebraska Foundation by Ms. Blanche Widaman who asked that the income from the trust is used for basic research in agriculture and that the funds be used for scholarships or fellowships for graduate students conducting basic research in agriculture.

The Dairy Store attracted the attention of several news outlets with the announcement that it would start carrying rib eyes, T-bones, porterhouse, tenderloins and sirloin steaks all sourced from the university's Department of Animal Science. Now with two locations: one on the 3rd floor of the Nebraska Union (room 348) and a new location in the lobby of Hardin Hall on East Campus. Lab Animal Care Assistant - Gnotobiotic Mouse Facility
Working with mice in sterile environments; preparing the food, water, and bedding for the mice and maintaining the sterile conditions of the isolators using aseptic techniques. Performing periodic microbiological quality-control checks and assisting lab personnel with various mouse-related tasks. The position is for Fall 2017 and possibly longer. Find more details here.

NCSER Summer Internship - The Nebraska Center for Energy Sciences Research (NCESR)

Assistant or Associate Professor in Fermentation, Food or Wine Chemistry/Biochemistry  - University of British Columbia

Associate Professor in Food Safety (Leung Family Professorship) -  Ontario Agricultural College
The Department of Food Science at the University of Guelph invites applications from qualified candidates for a tenure-track faculty position in food risk analysis at the Associate Professor rank. The position is sponsored by the Leung Family Foundation and will be known as the Leung Family Professorship in Food Safety.  Research interests may include any area of food risk analysis with preferred foci on methodologies and strategies for risk assessment and mitigation of foodborne microbial (including viruses) hazards. The successful candidate will hold a doctoral degree in Food Science, Food Safety, Risk Analysis, Microbiology or related discipline.  He/she will have substantial research experience, demonstrated evidence of research capacity, a strong record of teaching, excellent communication skills, and recognized ability to support industry stakeholders. 
 

Consideration of applications will begin on February 1, 2018, and will continue only if the position is not filled. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2018. Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, a statement of research interests and teaching philosophy, and the names of three persons who will serve as references to:
