Hi everyone!

Have you noticed the cooler (relatively speaking) weather lately? I can finally walk to my car in the morning with a smile on my face! (Until I drive into the traffic, of course.) Ahhh, Autumn is here, and winter soon too. Cool, possibly foggy mornings, and less bugs! What a lovely time to photograph the Everglades.

Back to the program...

I'd like to thank William Bunce for his wonderful and entertaining talk on portrait photography at our last meeting. It was very enjoyable and educational. I also want to thank everyone who came out to the portrait field trip, and of course for William and John Sabatier's expertise. You guys certainly turned a bad situation into a good one! For those who attended, would you mind sending in an image from the day so I can share it on the website (and IG)? Thanks!

And if you all could, please take a few minutes to read rest of the email below, as well as clicking on our website
calendar? We have lots of events coming up. Read all about them and decide if you'd like to participate. Hope to see you all soon!

This month, Bob Richardson will show us the wonders of macro photography and how to use focus stacking to make a tack-sharp image. It's not as easy as it looks, but Bob will make it a bit easier. Hope to see you all here!

Click here for more info Macro/focus stacking meeting.
Don't forget, October 5th is the famous Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk! If you haven't yet, be sure to go to the website and sign up for this event ASAP, and then head over to the virtual "store" and get your merch. You know you want to be properly decked out for the event. They have all the shirts and accessories you could want.

The walk begins at 5pm at the Historic Town Hall Museum, and ends at around 7:15pm at the Historic Redland Hotel. All information is located on their website. This event is lots of fun and it's for a good cause, the Springs of Hope Kenya-Bagamoyo.

Sign up for this event by clicking the link
HERE and also for more information. Hope to see you all there!

Be sure to attend the field trip/workshop on how to photograph macro subjects and how to focus stack while using a very wide aperture; just as we learned in the meeting. We'll have opportunity to photograph inside with inanimate objects or outside in the back yard with whatever miniature critters you can find.

This field trip/workshop will be held at the Leisure City Moose Lodge on Oct. 12th, and it so happens to be the club's 5th anniversary! So Happy Anniversary SFNPCC! You know we're going to celebrate, so after we're done learning and experimenting with macro, we'll partake in some adult beverages and snacks and have a good time. Just casual and relaxed, like the club.

Click the link here for more info. And please, as always, RSVP by clicking here. We'd like to know how many will be in attendance so we have enough food. Hope to see you all there!
CAMPING AT DUPUIS MANAGEMENT AREA DEC. 13TH - 16TH
We've reserved the group camping section at the DuPuis Management Area, just south and a little bit east of Port Mayaca and Lake Okeechobee, for the weekend of Dec. 13-16th. This will be in conjunction with the Geminid Meteor Shower so it should be a great opportunity for night photography.

SPACES ARE LIMITED. PLEASE RSVP by Nov. 10th so plans can be finalized. Click here for the website and updated info.

We've been offered a wonderful and generous opportunity from Judy Waldman to have our Christmas/Holiday party at the Palace Gardens in Homestead. I sent out a feeler email last week and it seems everyone is interested, so we said yes!

More details will come as soon as plans are made. But the date and time are set for Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at 6:30pm. Please save the date and we'll ask for firm RSVPs in a month or so. This is sure to be a good time!
ALL UPDATES - ANYTIME!

Do you know where to find the latest info for meetings and field trips? Our WEBSITE! Our website is www.sfnpcc.org I like to keep a shortcut linked on my computer's desktop, and my phone, so I can easily connect when I need fast info. Maybe you would too!

SFNPCC is on Instagram!
@sfnpcc_club
Our IG account is well in use. Any images you send will be properly tagged and uploaded for folks to see. So be sure to send me a photo or two from any SFNPCC event!

To find us on Instagram, search for our group name or click here sfnpcc_club. If you prefer me to NOT share on social media, please just say so and I'll leave it off.

Facebook Page & Group

The club has 2 official Facebook (FB) groups. One is a FB public "page", and the other is a private "group".

The public page is for viewing by the general public; everyone can see and participate. And if you're on FB, you can find it by typing the full name of the club, in the search bar. Or click here PUBLIC PAGE.

Our private FB group is for members only. To join the group, type SFNPCC Members in the search box, and click "JOIN" to request (or click PRIVATE GROUP). If you're a current member of the club, I'll accept you.

Feel free to share club photos, ask for critiques, and ask photography related questions here. This is also where I create our field trip "events" (in addition to our website, of course). We created this private FB account so that we could discuss freely any photography related items without the prying eyes of the general public. Enjoy!

We have a gallery tab on our website, and it's full of images. If you go to the website and click on the Galleries tab, you'll find images from our previous trips, weekends away, our Facebook challenges, and other various events.

Recently added photos include the June field trip to Fakahatchee and the end of  May/beginning of June Okeechobee weekend. So be sure to visit and enjoy each other's photos. As soon as judging is up, I'll post everyone's Scavenger Hunt photos as well.

Going forward, during each field trip and weekend away, we're taking an attendance of participants. After the event is over, we'll email you all separately to ask to submit a photo or two for the website. We're asking this so we can document the trip and show people who stumble onto our website that we are an active and viable club, worthy of membership! So please, try to remember to send me an image or two.

If you're one who likes to keep his or her work for sales or gallery shows, by all means, keep it for those events, but please share something. Even if you have a good photo of the group shooting or having fun. Those are always welcome too.
So that's all I have for October. Hope to see you at our events. Have a great month!

Secretary - SFNPCC
