Hi everyone!
Hope you all survived this past week/weekend! If I never hear the word DORIAN again, it'll be too soon. So here we are in September, getting the kiddos off to school, earlier nights (not that our nights are that long this far south) and in another month (hopefully) cooler weather. But there are still some pretty dramatic skies out there yet. The clouds have been fantastic! Get out and take advantage of them.

I want to thank Hugh Hudson for giving us his talk on long exposures last month. I hope everyone enjoyed it. I'm sorry I missed it. You know how it is, that old four letter word - W O R K. I'd also like to thank everyone who came out to Flamingo to photograph the night sky. For those who attended, don't forget to send me one or two images from the trip so I can share it on the website (and IG).

So please take a few minutes out of your day and check out the rest of the email below, as well as our website calendar and take note of the up and coming events. Hope to see you soon!

This month, William Bunce will give us a presentation on environmental portraiture, with tricks and techniques on how to achieve a great environmental portrait. Also this month, Hugh and Robert will be giving the awards for the Scavenger Hunt! Be sure to be here for this exciting meeting!

William will again be leading us in applying all that we learned about environmental portraiture, to good use. We will be photographing ourselves! We'll meet around 5ish (exact time TBA - keep watch on the website) at the Ernest Coe Visitor's Center parking lot and caravan to our exact location together. Please RSVP if you plan on attending by clicking HERE. When at the site, we'll set up and take each other's portraits while the sun is on it's descent, taking advantage of the golden light. Sun set is just before 7:30pm so we'll be able to take some photos of that afterwards. Should be fun. So come prepared as you'd like to be photographed (clothes/hair/accessories). Great for using on a website or as an avatar for social media.
Don't forget, October 5th is the famous Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk! Be sure to go to the website and sign up for this event ASAP, and then head over to the virtual "store" and get your swag. You know you want to be properly decked out for the event.

The walk begins at 5pm at the Historic Town Hall Museum, and ends at around 7:15pm at the Historic Redland Hotel. All information is located on their website. Just to reiterate, this is NOT a SFNPCC event, but being led by our own Past President, Hugh Hudson. So DO join in!! This is lots of fun and for a good cause, the Springs of Hope Kenya-Bagamoyo.

Sign up for this event by clicking the link HERE and also for more information. Hope to see you all there!

Our IG account is well in use. Any images you email me will be properly tagged and uploaded for folks to see. So be sure to send me a photo or two from any SFNPCC event!

To find us on Instagram, search for our group name or click here sfnpcc_club. If you prefer me to NOT share on social media, please just say so and I'll leave it off.

Facebook Page & Group
For our new members, the club has 2 official Facebook groups. One is a Facebook public "page", and the other is a private "group".

The public page is just that, it's for the general public; everyone can see and participate. And if you're on Facebook, you can find it by typing in the search bar the full name of the club, spelled out. Or click here PUBLIC PAGE.

Our private group is for members only. To join the group, do a search for SFNPCC Members and click "JOIN" to request. If you're a current member of the club, I'll accept you.

Feel free to share club photos, ask for critiques, ask photography related questions here. This is also where I create our field trip "events" (in addition to our website, of course).

We created this private Facebook account to keep the general public out of our group business. To find it type in SFNPCC Members or click here PRIVATE GROUP.

Do you know where to find the latest info for meetings and field trips? Our WEBSITE! Our website is I like to keep a shortcut linked on my computer's desktop, and my phone, so I can easily connect when I need fast info.

For last minute updates on field trips and weekend away,
and to communicate with each other, I use our private Facebook Group or messenger. Sometimes text or smoke signals if necessary. Whatever it takes. This is why we like people to RSVP. In case of a last minute change and no access to email, this is how we get our messages across. So... hint hint… make sure you RSVP when you plan on going on a field trip.

We have a gallery tab on our website, and it's full of images. If you go to the website and click on the Galleries tab, you'll find images from our previous trips, weekends away, our Facebook challenges, and other various events.

Recently added photos include the June field trip to Fakahatchee and the end of  May/beginning of June Okeechobee weekend. So be sure to visit and enjoy each other's photos. As soon as judging is up, I'll post everyone's Scavenger Hunt photos as well.

Going forward, during each field trip and weekend away, we're taking an attendance of participants. After the event is over, we'll email you all separately to ask to submit a photo or two for the website. We're asking this so we can document the trip and show people who stumble onto our website that we are an active and viable club, worthy of membership! So please, try to remember to send me an image or two.

If you're one who likes to keep his or her work for sales or gallery shows, by all means, keep it for those events, but please share something. Even if you have a good photo of the group shooting or having fun. Those are always welcome too.
So that's all I have for September. Hope to see you at our events. Have a great month!

Barbara Livieri
Secretary - SFNPCC
