Executive Director Report
Kids can't run out of possibilities to succeed when we invest in them. THANK you for choosing to invest in our kids - all around the world. Using movement as an excuse to teach kids how to talk about the things that break their hearts (friendships for example) and show them how to take that heartbreak, be brave, resilient and have the courage to break open into life (crossing a 5k finish line) is what we do. Your support keeps us going - thank you!
This fall, we were proud to read the results of an impact report written by Dr. Nicola Eccles of CP Active UK. We have heard for years from our coaches and parents about the changes they see in their kids AND it was awesome to see it in print! "Increased physical activity is an obvious part of the MMRC UK program, but the integral part of the program is based around helping girls to find an authentic voice, and to negotiate the contemporary world through increased self-confidence and self-belief." writes Dr. Eccles. Keep an eye out in December for some exciting news for 2017 and from us here at Mini Mermaids and Young Tritons, thank you for all you do in the world to teach kids love, compassion, strength, courage, and bravery.

Misha Frank

Misha Frank is a Special Day class teacher and Mini Mermaid Running Club coach at Roosevelt Elementary in Burlingame, CA. Here is what she shared with us about her experience as a coach:

I wanted to coach MMRC this year because I loved the idea of getting the girls on campus into fitness. I also loved the focus on setting and accomplishing goals, versus being the best or the fastest.

Watching the girls transform in so many ways in just 6 weeks was amazing. They really used the language from the curriculum and identified with Mini Mermaid, but also recognized how Siren was present in some of their own thoughts and actions. It was important to work through these two voices and identities with them.

Thanks Misha! Are you interested in coaching? Email us at info@minimermaidrunningclub.org.

Would you like to help us expand? We are looking for volunteers to put up flyers and distribute marketing materials. You can be located ANYWHERE for this opportunity. Please email info@minimermaidrunningclub.org if you are interested!
