Executive Director Report Spring has sprung, and the world of MMRC is careening forwards - as of March, we have had 7000 children participate in our six week program. It makes my head spin to think of all the people those kids have brought together as everyone including the coaches, teachers, families, and friends, discover #thefinishlineisjustthebeginning. Our minds are already looking ahead to the next school year and are excited as a team to see what the future will hold.
As we get emails from as far away Sarajevo and deliver supplies to our Mini Mermaids living in the slums of Mexico, we are reminded that while the world may seem distant and out of our reach at times - it really isn't so far away. We are proud to have such a long hand across the world. And we know; that reach is only possible because of the people willing to help kids hear and believe they are worth more than they know, they have more to give than they even realize and regardless of their circumstances, they can choose to stand strong for themselves and others. Just last week I was speaking with Hannah, Director of Mini Mermaid Running Club UK about the girls she is serving. Our hearts were heavy as we talked about her Mini Mermaids who live in homes where their voices aren't heard, where they are shut in a bedroom with no interaction or encouragement from their families for the journey they are on. And even how those girls might be mocked by their family for their desire to run. We may never know the full impact our work has in a child's life. We may never see what investment a coaches time might yield. We can trust, however, each and every child who hears the words, "You matter." will remember them when they need them most.
Thank you as always for your support, encouragement and love - we feel every bit.

Coach Stephanie Ireland and
Mini Mermaid Nieja Tucker
Stephanie is a Mini Mermaid Running Club coach at Rainbow Valley Elementary in Buckeye, AZ. Here is what she had to say about her experience as a MMRC coach:
"This is my second year coaching Mini Mermaids. The decision to start was a no-brainer for me because running is my passion. If I could inspire one girl to love running that would be great. Hopefully they will all develop a lifelong love of being active."
Mini Mermaid Nieja Tucker is also participating for the second time. She may not be the fastest Mini Mermaid, but her heart is always in the right place. She runs at a steady pace and she always wears a smile. She is kind and helpful, too. She embodies the spirit of a Mini Mermaid.
