Do you ever wonder when you’re going to arrive? When whatever that thing is that you’ve been hunting, chasing after in all the different arenas of life will finally just be here, and you won’t have to look to the next thing, because you’ll be in the thing that you’ve been wanting all along?
There’s a story in the Bible about the childhood of the human race, where it seems like there’d been a pattern, a habit, a daily getaway in which God would come and enter the garden, the place he had given the man and the woman to tend and take care of, and they would go walking together. They would spend time together. They would get to know each other better.
But then, one day, as we read in Genesis chapter 3…
When the Lord God came walking in the garden in the cool of the day, the man and his wife hid themselves from Him. Something had happened which made them avoid Him. Something inside of them. A coldness and a death. A displacement of desire. And yet, the desire is still there, asking its questions, quiet, but insistent.
How do I find something real with God? What do I have to do? Climb some mountain in Tibet? Sit at the feet of some yogi by the river Ganges? Chase down enlightenment? What do I do?
Come and join us this Sunday, 4pm @ Awaken, to hear Jesus tell us the way. To something real. Something strong. Something that’s changed my experience of God.
