We've moved! Please use our new address for snail mail, visiting
We didn't have a WSIA Weekly newsletter last week, because we were in the midst relocating our office space in downtown Olympia. Please note our new address for future correspondence or for visiting -- 828 7th Avenue Southeast, Olympia, Washington 98501. Feel free to pass along to your accounting or database office for updating.

Lights! Camera! Action! Are you coming to the Annual Conference?
On Wednesday, you should have received an e-mail announcing registration is open for our 45th Annual Conference, "Lights! Camera! Action! - Setting the Stage for Success" taking place May 4 - 6 at the new Davenport Grand Hotel in Spokane. Exhibitor spaces are filling up, new sponsors are coming in daily, and registrations are taking off. You'll want to register early to secure your space and network with this all-star cast of national and regional industry experts. All the details, including golf tournament, wine tour, hotel information, agenda, registration, exhibiting, sponsoring, and more are available on the event webpage by clicking here.

Two weeks to go til Spring Conference in Bellevue
As excitement builds for the Annual Conference, we're still registering for this year's one-day Spring Conference taking place in Bellevue on March 17th at the Embassy Suites. This excellent program agenda focuses on managing medical conditions that drive disability and claim costs. There are a handful of spaces still remaining, so get your registration in - we look forward to seeing you on St. Patrick's Day in Bellevue! Details and registration here.

Action at the Legislature has slowed to a crawl for comp, safety
As Washington's legislative session heads toward its scheduled adjournment next Thursday, no bills remain alive at this point making changes to workers' compensation or workplace safety. The House and Senate are in the process of negotiating the year's supplemental budget, and there are provisions in the version of the budget out of the Senate that would (a) require Labor & Industries to embark on a catastrophic claims management pilot program with an outside vendor, and (b) convene an interim working group on Independent Medical Examination data and issues. It's unclear whether either of the two budget provisos will survive in the final package expected next week, but we are tracking the action and will let you know.

No WSIA Safety Committee next week - WISHA Advisory Committee meeting instead
Our monthly Safety Committee meeting is canceled for next Thursday so that interested members can instead attend the quarterly WISHA Advisory Committee meeting at the Department of Labor & Industries in Tumwater, 9:00 a.m. in Room S117 at the Department headquarters. Click here for the agenda. Committee chair John Shervey invites anyone interested to contact him about carpooling to the meeting from the central Puget Sound area.

Department offering free safety seminar March 24th, other safety resources
Members may be interested in a free one-day seminar hosted by the Department of Labor & Industries on March 24th at the Tumwater headquarters' auditorium room, sponsored by the department's Voluntary Protection Program. Representatives from Apollo, Mortenson Construction, Nucor Steel, Oldcastle Precast, and Starbucks Coffee are scheduled to speak. More information is available here. Also, the Department is offering their inaugural episode of Eye on Safety: Recordkeeping and Reporting webcast online; check it out here. Finally, we pass along the Department's reminder that on February 1 of each year, employers required to keep OSHA 300 Injury and Illness Recordkeeping Logs must compile the information on the OSHA Form 300A or an equivalent and post it in a conspicuous place or places where notices to employees are customarily posted, and kept up through April 30th of each year.
