Dear Family & Friends,
You’ve probably been wondering, “What’s Don & Jeannie been up to, we have not heard from then in a while!” It has been a while since we sent our last newsletter, we apologize for the delay. So, what have we been up to?
In this Newsletter:
Serving in our neighborhood
Serving with Seed Company
Serving in Southeast Asia – upcoming trip in September
IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD AND BEYOND
We continue to work to see our neighborhood reached with the gospel. Our efforts are mostly a work of prayer. We will soon be mobilizing several folks in the neighborhood to pray together for our neighborhood of Cradock. Our hope is to see folks come to the Lord and being disciple. Believers become strong, mature followers of Jesus when they learn to hear His voice and obey Him.
Please pray with us that we bare much fruit and see these lives changed.
I continue to champion the cause to see local churches take on the task of reaching those unreached peoples who have never heard about Jesus who will rescue them out of darkness and also to be faithful in making disciples in their own communities.
Please pray that I will be successful.
IN THE WORLD
The Seed Company: My work with the Seed Company as a data administrator is going well. I continue to develop a data base collecting data regarding all the languages of Indonesia including the tribes associates with them, their religion, population, and all translation work being or not being done amongst them. Many of these languages have no Bible in their language and possible no written language at all. Most of these groups are Muslims and the work amongst them is very difficult.
Indonesia has a population of over 251 million with 779 people groups with their own language or dialect. Almost 154 million of the population (221 people groups) are unreached, 80% of them are Muslim. The Seed Company is working with many of these language groups.
I will be attending a Seed Company field operations meeting in May. It will be great to be there with our oldest daughter Christie who serves with Seed Company as the Director of Field Programs in the Islands Asia region.
Please pray that my service with Seed Company is effective and that I will be able to provide the data that is need to assist them to compete their project.
Travels to Southeast Asia: It has been a while since we have made at trip to Southeast Asia. This year our plans are to visit Medan, Indonesia and do some training at the school where I used to serve as the Academic Dean. I will teaching the students for several days. We will also visit some field workers with the Seed Company and a quick trip to Thailand to visit with some old friends we used to work with in Thailand. We hope to encourage them and see what the Lord is doing through their lives.
What is wonderful about this trip is that Jeannie will be joining me! It has been several years since she has been able to go with me on a mission trip. If you would like for me to come to your church or small group and share about what we will be doing feel free to contact us and we would love to come see you.
Please pray that the funds needed for this trip will be provided. The trip will cost around $4500, we plan to depart on September 5th this year. If you would like to help, we will need to be funded by the end of July to pay for our tickets.
