Welcome to October, as well as the start of our academic year here at UCLA.

Enjoy our most recent Podcast: Our most recent podcast featured Dylan Rice and Maggie Weiland from the San Francisco Entertainment Commission with an engaging discussion on technology and live music in SF.  Subscribe to our Podcast on Apple Podcasts or wherever you enjoy your podcasts for your commute or leisure.

Changing Music Ecosystems Thanks to our new and old friends at the Mallen Conference in Berlin last week.  Our presentation is not as glamorous without the audio, though you can see the slides at this link.  We also had a view of the session shared with all of UCLA with the Daily Bruin Orwellian version of the conversation.  We'll share a version also in an upcoming podcast along with the launch of our new website.

Watch for our next newsletter with updates on The Lab, our next-generation music marketing venture, and the 2019 series events on the Future of Music in Los Angeles.

And don't miss the upcoming Oct. 18 TechCrunch TC Sessions AR/VR Conference at UCLA with our friends at UCLA Anderson Venture Accelerator.  The event will feature premier thought leaders in these fields, groundbreaking startups, and plenty of networking opportunities for attendees. In addition to awesome stage content, there will also be several in-depth workshops to attend on a variety of topics.

Innovating Music Podcasts

We have shared one new podcast since our last newsletter:
  • Music by the Bay: We were joined by Maggie Weiland and Dylan Rice from the SF Entertainment Commission to talk about how they work to nurture music in San Francisco. Gigi had met them at an event hosted by Jocelyn Kane, who created many of the public policy rules and artist-supporting structures to help clubs and artists survive in a very high priced, high tech city. Dylan and Maggie shared their challenges and dreams for helping venues, outdoor events, and artists continue to make San Francisco a culturally rich city that continues to build and grow..  Website link
Listen at this link on iTunes or at our UCLA website.   Note: Later this month, we get a whole new website.  Sadly, our links will all change.  We'll share news and locations in our next enewsletter.

TC / UCLA VR/AR Sessions Oct. 18

Join TechCrunch and the UCLA Anderson Venture Accelerator Oct. 18, 2018 for a day of all things Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR). The event will feature premier thought leaders in these fields, groundbreaking startups, and plenty of networking opportunities for attendees. In addition to awesome stage content, there will also be several in-depth workshops to attend on a variety of topics!
