Memorial to Gold Star Gamma Zetas to be dedicated Oct 3

On Saturday, October 3 the Gamma Zeta Class of '65 will lead a ceremony to dedicate a memorial display in the library of our chapter house to recognize and remember our Gold Star Gamma Zetas, brothers who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country in the military service.  This project started with their desire to remember at their 50th reunion this weekend, their pledge brother Bruce Capel '65 who died while serving in Vietnam.  They soon decided to recognize all twenty-two Gold Star Gamma Zetas.  All are welcome to attend the Ceremony which will be held on Saturday October 3 at 1:00 PM at the chapter house.  Here's a link to the full schedule of activities for the day.  Thanks to Brian Grant and Retired Rear Admiral Bill Masters, both 65's for driving this project!  Here's a link where you can make a donation to support this project.

RG Swedo Outing ups scholarship total to $250K. John Bucklar ’96 team wins Heldman Trophy!

August 15th was the 14th Annual R Gregory Swedo ’96  Foundation Golf Outing.  We had over 110 golfers + a great group of volunteers.  Based on our bar tab – it looks like everyone had a great time….

In total – we raised over $10k, putting our 14 year total at $250k.  We awarded our 11th scholarship this year!

We added a new twist – awarding the Matt Heldman Trophy – to the highest finishing ATO team.  In total, we had 25 ATOs play, and 10 of the 27 4somes were in the hunt for the trophy – including 4 undergrads (special thanks to Bill Barry ’77 for sponsoring the undergrad team).

Congrats to John Bucklar '96 for winning this year!  There was a 3 way tie at -15, which included John Bucklar 96, Brian Grady, Andy Clark, and Chip Aubry.  They lost in the 150 yard shoot-out by about 2 feet, and finished 2nd overall.  John also did a phenomenal job putting together a video with pictures and music full of mid 90s classics.  Here’s a link to more information about the event including John's video –

Please welcome our newest Gamma Zetas!

Please welcome our newest Gamma Zeta’s – the new member class of 2019!  Welcome guys to a lifetime of ATO!!  Congrats to our rush team led by ’17s Sam Selby, Juliano Florio and Michael Weinstein who brought in this great class.  Very cool that it includes at least three legacies – Will McCarty, son of Bill McCarty ’79, nephew of Matt McCarty ’90 and Grandson of Bill McCarty ’54.  Sean Ewert, son of Dr. Greg Ewert ’82 and Matt Kleinhans, brother of Joe ’17 and Robert Kleinhans ’15.  Sorry if I missed any more.  This class is in good hands now with Joe Hagerty ’17 who will take over as VP of New Member Training.  Meet the ’19s…

Congrats Brian McDermott '14

John Stacey ’68 inducts John Wright ’68 into the Wheaton HS Hall of Fame

On September 10, John Stacey ’68 had the honor of inducting John Wright ’68 into the Wheaton High Schools Alumni Hall of Fame at a ceremony and dinner in Wheaton. John was a grade school, high school and college classmate of John’s… and a Gamma Zeta pledge brother. Very cool! Other Gamma Zeta and Wheaton high schools alumni in attendance were Mike Maher and Dane Luhrsen both ’77s.

Landscaping Phase 1 installed

On Saturday, September 19, a joint alumni/undergrad team with support from Fernando installed Phase 1 of a multi year landscaping plan for our chapter house. Rob Ebl ’93 was the alumni leader and Patrick Cosgrove ’17 led the undergrads. They did a lot of work and it looks great. Once everything blooms in the next couple of weeks, it will look even better for Homecoming. Thanks guys!! Great work!! – Read more here.
