Emotional CPR:  Connecting, Empowering, and Revitalizing 
Veterinary Social Work will be hosting a 2-day Emotional CPR training, February 16-17, in Knoxville, TN. The goals of this ECPR training are to provide training for veterinarians to help others through emotional crises with increased efficacy and without self-harm and to develop a group of DVM’s who, having been trained in ECPR, are willing and prepared to reduce stigma about mental illness in the profession by telling “their own stories” of adversity and healing. This training is approved for 12 CEU's for veterinary professionals.
 

A public health approach.
Help people through emotional crises.
Veterinary specific although all are welcome.


This training is a function of the Dr. N. Paul Nolan Memorial Suicide Awareness in Veterinary Education (SAVE) Program. Such awareness and education efforts were an expressed wish from Paul and his family.

Program Description:

This program is designed to integrate knowledge obtained in three online modules in the veterinary social work training program: 1) Animal Related Bereavement: Implications for Social Work Practice, 2) Compassion Fatigue Management, and 3) The Link: Violence Towards Humans and Animals. Through the techniques of observing, reflecting, and experiencing, the intensive will guide the participant through the process of “putting it all together” and practicing the skills required for veterinary social work.
 

General Information:

-Open to mental health students and professionals only.
-Pending NASW CE approval
-Coffee, light breakfast, snacks, and lunch will be provided each day; vegan & vegetarian options available.
-A block of hotel rooms will be available
