Setting the Standard

As the first of many projects East West Partners is developing with Starwood Capital, One Union Station (OUS) is located at the heart of downtown Denver. This 120,000 square foot office building frames the revitalized Union Station and oversees a beautiful public courtyard with a magnificent, interactive fountain. Retail tenants include the gastropub Thirsty Lion and two innovative, casual restaurants named Protein Bar and Zoe Ma Ma.

OUS was awarded a LEED Gold Certification. It is fully-leased to Antero Resources, and was sold to GLL Properties of Germany. One Union Station is the first of three office buildings East West Partners will build in the Union Station Neighborhood, with the 225,000 square foot Triangle Building currently under construction.


Big Apple, Fall Splendor

Fall brings East West Partners two significant events.  First is the Urban Land Institute (ULI) annual conference, which was held in New York.  ULI provides leadership in the responsible use of land and in the creation of sustainable communities worldwide. EWP has been involved with ULI for more than 20 years, with Harry Frampton having served as Chairman. Our attendees of this year’s conference came away with some new ideas, renewed friendships with other developers, and a reminder that New York is a great place to visit.

The second big event: the turning of the Aspens is now finished. Traveling through Colorado it was impossible to not notice how vibrant the colors were, with more trees showing red than in past years. Hopefully you were able to enjoy them, it reminded me to slow down and take in the beauty of the season.

Innovation. Sustainability. Community.

At a recent Gerry Bell Leadership Seminar, I learned that communication should play a bigger role in our marketing strategy. Fortunately, we found HyFyve to help us take some fresh marketing perspectives, along with a consistent newsletter as the core of our improved communications plan.

These new marketing efforts will be significant, and are all based on three principles we hold dear: Innovation, Sustainability, and Community. To help enforce these key pillars, we are developing a responsive new website, revamping our storybook, and placing print and digital ads within select media channels. For example, check out this new statement-making ad slated to run in the 2014/2015 Holiday Edition of Vail Beaver Creek Magazine.

Our increased focus on marketing stems from a firm belief that opportunities for East West Partners abound. As one of the only resort developers able to weather the market downturn, we're beginning to see opportunities for new projects arise. This, combined with our successes in Denver, all point to an exciting future, and a need to be proactive about seeking out new opportunities.

On another note, after a rewarding 14-year relationship with our friends in Lake Tahoe, East West Partners has elected not to renew the management agreement for our Northstar projects. Blake Riva and the Tahoe team will stay on board and work directly for Crescent Real Estate on those projects. We wish them the very best and know they will be successful in their endeavors.
