Quarter 1
Our second annual Shop Local Saturday Holiday Market in the Historic Paddock Arcade was a huge success!
a look at what we've done:

WatertownFirst is a not-for-profit network of locally-owned independent businesses and individuals dedicated to building a sustainable local economy by encouraging citizens to “Buy Local and Live Local.” As an organization of community-minded individuals and independent businesses, our mission is to create a thriving local economy by working together to maximize the potential of local businesses.
The 2nd annual  WatertownFirst Shop local Saturday Market on November 26th was a huge success! This year we had a great turnout at the Paddock Arcade and saw many walking throughout our downtown with Shop local bags in hand! Please continue to shop  the local business around Watertown.

WatertownFirst sponsored a charity fundraiser for the North Country Arts Council. Held in the Paddock Arcade downtown, on December 16th. We were able to help raise enough money help pay off their debt and keep Arts on the Square.

Independents Week is a community celebration of the independent and local businesses within our community. During the week of July 1-7 buy local and live local.  Visit us our website often for more information about the event and how to be a vendor.
member business spotlight:

This month we put the business spotlight on WatertownFirst member April’s Cake Shop. April Johnson first opened April’s Cake Shop in July of 2011. April has successfully brought new life downtown with her many flavors of cupcakes baked fresh from scratch. You can’t buy happiness but you can buy cupcakes and that is kind of the same thing at April’s Cake Shop. Inspired by her love of baking, and motivated to open her store front shop opposite of “Peanut Park” located in Downtown Watertown.

Born and raised in Watertown, April has been a nurse for over 20 years gaining leadership skills and compassion for others. Watertown DBA presented April’s Cake Shop the business of the year award for 2015. April herself earned the Honorary First Citizen Award presented by Mayor Joseph M. Butler Jr. last February.

April is also the newest board member of WatertownFirst with the role of membership director. April states she is happy to be a part of any event that gets businesses working together for the sake of the community.
