Ennis Book Club Festival 2018

We hope Saturday June 9th is marked up on your calendar and you are looking forward to a lovely trio of events, Sebastian Barry at 8pm plus the Simon Fitzmaurice film and the talk with Ruth Fitzmaurice at 2pm and 4pm respectively. This month we’ve got lots of news for you:

What to expect at the Sebastian Barry Tribute

We are delighted that the Laureate for Irish Fiction, Sebastian Barry will be in Ennis in June. It’s going to be a very special night. Firstly, you’ll hear a stimulating panel discussion of Sebastian’s work with two great novelists in Ireland today, Claire Kilroy and Mia Gallagher, together with specially filmed tributes to Sebastian Barry from a host of writers, directors and actors. The evening culminates with an interview with Sebastian conducted by RTE’s Arena host, and EBCF favourite, Seán Rocks.
Sebastian Barry is the only novelist to have won the coveted Costa best novel award twice, for Days without End and The Secret Scripture, which has since been made into a film by Jim Sheridan. He has twice been shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize for his novels A Long Long Way and The Secret Scripture.
This event is going to be like no other! Book now to avoid disappointment.

Win 2 tickets to Sebastian Barry Special Tribute

Share our June 9th events on Facebook and you are automatically in a draw for free tickets to the events in glór on Saturday 9th June. We will have three prizes, a set of tickets for each event. Share by Sunday 13th May to be in with a chance. And if you win but already have tickets, you will be given additional tickets for friends or the cash equivalent, as you prefer.

Children and Young Adult’s Events

Children and Young Adult’s events took place in the week of 16th April, all rescheduled from the infamous weekend of the snow. Several hundred attended in libraries throughout Clare and the events were engaging and entertaining. The presenters included Sarah Maria Griffin, Donal Ryan, Caroline Busher and Nessa O’Mahony and the events were a mix of readings, Q&A and a poetry workshop.
We appreciate the support of Clare Libraries and our sponsors that enable us to provide this wonderful experience to young people free of charge.

Michael Harding Memoir Writing Workshop

To all budding writers, Michael Harding is giving a workshop on memoir writing in Limerick on 16th May. Contact 061 953 400 or for more details. You will have another chance to be enthralled by Michael in his one man show at glór in association with EBCF on 22nd November. Contact glór box office to book.
