Dear friends and colleagues,

we are very happy to inform you about the third edition of the international competition Music Theatre NOW - an initiative by the Music Theatre Committee of the International Theatre Institute (ITI) in cooperation with the German ITI centre.
As you might already know the main purpose of this worldwide event is to promote exchange among artists and presenters making new music theatre and opera.
The competition was first held in 2008. In the last edition in 2012, 400 works were submitted from more than 50 countries. This time we’d like to receive even more!

Therefore we would appreciate it, if you share the information about the competition among artists, colleagues and especially your former fellow team members and encourage those exploring new artistic ideas in their work to take part in the event.
You can forward this email and share on Facebook or Twitter.

We are still interested in works of all shapes and sizes – created for opera houses, festivals, tiny venues, even livingrooms as well as other site-specific works, but all works must have been produced after June 30, 2012. All participants are allowed to submit more than one entry.

The jury for Music Theatre NOW 2015 consists of Sara Joan Fang, trained pianist and music producer for Singapore’s national performing arts centre Esplanade, Guy Coolen, director of the production company Muziektheater Transparant (Antwerp) and  artistic director of the annual operafestival The Opera Days in Rotterdam, as well as executive producer of Brooklyn Academy of Music Joseph V. Melillo, Mexican composer and festival maker Ana Lara and continuing his commitment from the 2012 jury Brett Bailey, South African playwright, designer and director.

The final meeting, where all winners will present their work to invited producers and festival-representatives from all over the world, will take place at the Operadagen Rotterdam, annual international performing arts festival in Rotterdam in May 2016.
Past winners have won full presentations of their works at Operadagen Festival, ACT festival Shanghai, PROTOTYPE festival or Buenos Aires. Similar presentation opportunities will be extended to this year’s winners and will be announced soon.

Please note that we have a little change in our application procedure this time: for the convenience of everybody involved the submission of works is all online this year- no DVDs have to be sent in. And a small administration fee is to be paid for every application, which can be easily done via Paypal or bank transfer.

If you have any questions, please contact the project director at
