Dear <<First Name>>,

What a busy time of year the lead up to December always is!

We feel very honoured to be one of four beneficiaries of the Peninsula Pals Melbourne Cup day luncheon – and the team were frocked up and suited to indulge in a very ritzy and fun day out. Have a look at the photos here.

Justene and Neil also flew to Dubbo to present at the Homelessness and Housing Support Summit, here they are in transit.

The incredible finance team at Unilever ANZ took on the challenge of refreshing 4 of our youth housing bedrooms, the garden and garage – on behalf of our young people we are forever thankful for the community support we receive. We love to hear from you and like sharing stories on social media. If something happened, for example if you or a friend have done something nice for someone - write in and let us know about it by email.

If you like our regular updates and think others might too - please forward this newsletter to them.

All the best from the Burdekin Team!

Calling on government to commit to funding beyond June 2017

The Government funding agreement called The National Partnership Agreement on Homelessness (NPAH), which funds 180 homelessness services, is only guaranteed until June 2017. Beyond that there is currently no commitment and the sector is naturally feeling vulnerable during this uncertainty. Given we are in the midst of a housing affordability crisis and homelessness is a growing problem the sector is calling on the Government to commit to funding beyond June 2017 -  read about it here.
Save the date: The Brick It Up art exhibition featuring the work of 8 Urban artists create 2m x 2m artworks for the walls of the Creative Space in North Curl Curl. The opening night is on 8 December from 6 to  9 pm and a percentage of all sales by artists will go to Burdekin. Our Executive Officer, Justene will be there to talk about what we do, there will also be food and drinks. Please come on down and support us by supporting these amazing local artists. Managing exam and exam result stress

Students around the country are wrapping up exams and no doubt anxiously awaiting results. While exams and results are important they don't necessarily guarantee future success, failure or happiness.

We are wishing all of the students well. There are quite a few resources around to help stay sane during this time of stress, If you know somebody who could use them, please pass them on:
