hello 2020...

Welcome to 2020 on the Northern Beaches from the Burdekin team <<First Name>>.  It has been a scary start - to say the least - with bushfires surrounding the Greater Sydney area.  We hope that you, your families and friends are and will remain safe for the rest of summer! Many have lost their homes around Australia and many worry about the future, a theme that we are only too familiar with here at Burdekin.

At times like these it's so important to help each other...  if you need to speak to someone there is help out there. If you are concerned about a young person start by giving us a call: 02 8976 1777 or email:

We had a busy end to 2019 and it's already looking like 2020 will be a big year - take a look at what we've been up to below.

All the best from all of us at Burdekin
Who cares wins: Our CEO, Justene, was featured in Pittwater Life in the December issue. Click on this link and go to pages 28-29. Justene talks about her personal and professional experiences that led her to what she is doing today, as well as the work we do with vulnerable young people on the Northern Beaches. We are so proud to have her!
Christmas spirit: A huge thank you to everyone who donated this Christmas - it is your support that makes this season such a special one for us. Here, we have a photo of Phil Edwards from Manly Warringah Discrict Cricket Club presenting Justene with gifts from the players for our young people. We had help from C3 Church, Blackmores and St Anthony in the Field Catholic Church, students from St Pius College in Chatswood and many more in the community - thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Go Eagles! Manly Warringah Sea Eagles have been supporters of Burdekin and The Avalon Youth Hub for a quite a while now. How amazing to see Dylan, Tevita and Corey from the team show up to the Hubs Community Jam to spend time with the kids, this is what community is about! Huge thank you and click on the link to view more photos here.
Support from the team: Young people are special and we love working with them, we love seeing them thrive. Here are some of us heading out to support one of our young people at his new job in a cafe - yes he was embarrassed, it was like his whole family just rocked up for lunch on his first day!
SJB thank YOU! We have so many amazing supporters and wanted to give a special shout-out to one in particular. The lovely people from SJB, who each year sponsor our annual charity golf day and generously support us each Christmas. This Christmas, we once again received $7,500. That goes such a long way in helping us with the critical work that we do with young people. To give you an idea please click here.
#YOUCANTALK This is Kerry from the Seasons Program CCNB. She works out of the Avalon Youth Hub every second Monday. Here she is being her amazing self as part of the R U Okay suicide prevention campaign. Take a look at the video here.
New website! Take a look at our amazing new website, we love the new look and hope you will too. Please check in on it every now and then for updates, event notices, to sign up to our newsletter or access archived newsletters, stories from our kids and of course to see what we do.
