Meet Our Intern!
I am pleased to introduce you to Just Schools Project's first Intern, Francie Hiza. From supporting JSP at trainings to researching funding opportunities to providing much-needed direct feedback, Francie has been integral to JSP's work in schools and communities this year.
According to Francie, her internship with Just Schools Project has provided "real-world applications to the theoretical, academic work" she is doing as a full-time undergraduate student at Smith College. Her work with Just Schools Project has made Francie "feel motivated to tackle systems of injustice and to continue to work with other kind, intelligent, critical social justice humans in the future."
Says Francie: "My dream job would be to combine the workshops and work that Just Schools Project is doing in schools to interrupt the school-to-prison-pipeline and outdoor leadership. Providing leadership opportunities outdoors is a different and powerful venue for students who are otherwise being pushed out of schools."
