NAC welcomes a fresh approach to mild asthma
The National Asthma Council Australia (NAC) welcomes the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) registration of budesonide/formoterol as reliever therapy for adults with mild asthma.

NAC CEO Siobhan Brophy says the TGA approval is an essential first step in considering whether international developments around as-needed budesonide/formoterol and treatment options for mild asthma could be implemented locally.

'The NAC is currently working on how this treatment fits in the Australian context for the next Australian Asthma Handbook update...as always, deliberations utilise well-established and rigorous protocols to determine recommendations for inclusion,' says Ms Brophy.

New tool for managing allergic rhinitis and asthma
NAC has launched a new resource for health professionals - the Allergic Rhinitis Pad - helping you develop treatment plans that assist asthma patients with management of their allergic rhinitis.

With three in four people with asthma affected by allergic rhinitis, it's an essential resource, particularly in the lead-up to spring.

Fluticasone furoate has been listed on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme with NAC CEO Siobhan Brophy saying the reimbursement represents additional treatment options that can help improve quality of life for Australians with asthma and welcoming the news for patients.

NAC welcomes PSA and SHPA MoU
NAC welcomes the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia and Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia.

NAC Chair Dr Joanna Wriedt says NAC looks forward to the opportunity this presents for all three organisations to enhance support for pharmacists to provide the highest standard of asthma care across professional settings.
