Back to school warning for kids with asthma

Parents and teachers are being warned to prepare for a spike in asthma emergencies when children return to classrooms for the start of the 2016 school year.

1 in 10 school children with asthma face a significant increase in the risk of asthma flare-ups and hospitalisation during the first few weeks of school.   See our Media Release

Australia Day Honours for two leading respiratory specialists

IPCRG E-Quality Program 2016-2017 now inviting bids

The E-Quality Program aims to support small educational projects in member and associate member countries: ‘working locally, collaborating globally’.

The program offers small scale (seed) funding to support pilot educational projects which meet their evidence-based criteria. For more information including how to apply visit the IPCRG website

National patient support pilot for asthma

The Asthma Foundation NSW has launched a pilot program to improve adherence to asthma preventer medicines.

Aimed at adults over 18 years old, the initiative is intended for people who have a current asthma diagnosis and a prescribed preventer, but don't use it regularly.    More information

New HealthDirect services now available

Pregnancy, Birth and Baby - the service has recently been expanded to include maternal child health nurses who are available for advice or support 7 days a week as part of its national service.  More information

The Carer Gateway - providing information about the services and support available for people who care for someone with a disability, chronic illness, dementia, mental illness or who are frail aged.   More information

The Bronchiectasis Toolbox - a new resource for health professionals

This new website is an interactive educational resource, designed to assist health care professionals with the assessment and management of people with non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis.
