Are you tapping into your team's creativity?

We all have a tendency to stick with what we know, but we miss key opportunities for problem solving. Creativity stimulates new ways to solve old problems. It is vital to create an environment that encourages your team to come up with new approaches. This will generate new ideas and you will get greater buy-in when it's time to implement solutions. Here are some quick tips to stimulate creativity with your team:

Get Feedback. Ask your employees to let you know what works and what does not. Make sure to actively listen to their questions, comments, praise and concerns.  Do a 360 assessment of your leadership style at least every other year.
Brainstorm. Once in a while, forgo the traditional meeting and opt for a brainstorming session. Sit down with your employees and strategize together. Do not use a PowerPoint or lecture on the importance of meeting deadlines. Instead, ask your employees to think of new solutions and map out new goals. For more tips on keeping your meetings energizing and productive, read this month's blog post.
