what matters...

This story is a tough one for me.

We were asked a while back to adapt ‘Little Matters’ to reflect the loss of a dog… I teared up at the request, as dogs I’ve known, loved, and lost immediately became present for me. And then I teared up again when I saw Brian create this watercolor yesterday.

(that never quite goes away, does it… )

I once read an essay by Alice Walker where she suggested you create a ceremony when you adopt a pet. A moment when you publicly speak your commitment because this will be a special, intimate relationship like no other. I remember she pointed out that we do more for our pets than we do for most other people…

There is nothing quite like that unique and profound bond…

always in motion,
fia

P.S. 'little matters' is the new version of this Brian did yesterday afternoon. Click here if you'd like one for you, or a dog person you know....

thoughts for the week...

It's already October, and now until the end of year, it seems that time will move twice as fast. Here is Fia's take on how to find a bit of grace around this in her essay this week: a different way of self care...
