Pajaro Valley Loaves and Fishes

"We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand fibers connect us with our fellow men; and among those fibers, as sympathetic threads, our actions run as causes, and they come back to us as effects."

                                                          - Herman Melville
PVLF pantry volunteer DeVon assists participant Noemi with her monthly groceries. Because of generous supporters and food providers, Loaves and Fishes is able to maintain a quality supply of fresh fruits and vegetables for when the community needs them most.

PVLF Runs to End Hunger

Human Race 2016

At this year’s Human Race fundraiser, PVLF supporters, volunteers, and community members came together to raise over $2000 to help nourish the Pajaro Valley! Every year, the Volunteer Center of Santa Cruz County hosts the event to provide opportunities for non-profits to gain community support.  On race day, the PVLF crew gathered to complete the 5.5 mile course along beautiful West Cliff Dr.

At the finish line, Team PVLF celebrated with freshly blended smoothies made from a people-powered bicycle blender. Spirits remained high as PVLF volunteer Ike Mier was awarded “most spirited” at the Human Race!

Volunteer Coordinator Colleen Walsh and "Most Spirited" winner Ike Mier with get ready to race! Ike ran the entire 5.5 mile course in a lion costume to draw more attention to PVLF!

PVLF thanks all who participated, donated, and championed for us during the Human Race fundraising efforts! A special thanks to Second Harvest Food Bank for providing their bicycle-powered blender!
