Do You Need A God Encounter?

By Nathan D. Pietsch

Dawn and I recently spoke to some people regarding having an encounter with God. We have found that many people run away from wanting an "experience" with God. They prefer to read, study, or talk about God rather than experience Him. Some questions arose that I feel should be addressed.

Is it Biblical to desire an encounter with God? In the Bible, God actually encountered people on a regular basis. In Exodus 3, God encountered Moses in the form of a burning bush. In Revelation 1:19, Jesus encountered John and said, "Write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place after this."

If God encountered people in Biblical times, is it possible to experience God today? According to Hebrews 13:8 we are told, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." It is highly likely God is desiring to encounter you on a regular basis.

What are some reasons why God would encounter people? As I look in the Bible, I believe God encounters people for numerous reasons:
  • to give comfort and encouragement (Acts 23:11)
  • commission a person for ministry (John 20:19-22)
  • release revelation (Revelation 1:10-20)
  • give marching orders and direction (Ezekiel 2:1-5
  • and/or to lead them to salvation (Acts 9:3-6).
If you need any of these reasons in your own life, I encourage you to position yourself to encounter the Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and Holy Spirit.

Are You Ready?

By Dawn R. Pietsch

Interestingly enough, Jesus is coming to save the world again! Yes, He already came and saved the world once, by His death on the cross, and by the shedding of His blood, but now He is coming quickly! In Revelation 22:7 and 12:20. He tells me daily in my morning quiet time with Him, that He is coming quickly!

It's time to take a look at ourselves and see where we're at with Him. He longs that none should perish, but that all should be saved. Today is the day of Salvation! In Roman's 13:11 the Bible says, "And do this, knowing the time, that NOW it is high time to awake out of sleep, for NOW our Salvation is nearer than when we first believed!" In Romans 12:2 we are told, "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God!."

The ten virgins in Matthew 25 were all sleeping, but only five were prepared, the other five were not! "Behold, the Bridegroom is coming! Go out to meet Him!" It's an exciting time, yet a very sobering time we're living in... Are you ready?
