Parkrun comes to Renmark on Saturday 16 July!

Parkrun will officially be launched in Renmark on Saturday 16 of July!
Parkrun is a FREE weekly community running event, organised by volunteers and community groups at towns and cities worldwide along public walkways linear parks and trails. The philosophy is to encourage people of all fitness levels and ages to participate in running and or walking. The course is 5kms, with a focus on utilising local parklands and encourages socialising pre and post events. Parkrun is a well-known online community, and each run is timed then logged online using timing stations and tags supplied to each runner.

Local community member Annette Aston who leads a passionate team of like minded fitness enthusiasts felt that parkrun would be the perfect weekly Community Event for Renmark's stunning Riverfront and approached Council for support. Council was happy to assist Annette and her working party to develop the concept and to help them make their idea a reality.

Annette and her team have held three trial runs and have attracted nearly 50 people on each occasion.

We wish Renmark Parkrun all the best with the official launch on Saturday 16 July and if you would like to know more information please go to their Facebook Page to stay connected or register online to be a part of this fantastic community run initiative at.

Renmark Paringa Council is proud to support the 2016 Rural Women’s Gathering which will take place in the Riverland Friday 9, Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 September 2016.

The concept of a Rural Women’s Gathering was born in 1989 by a group of women in Victoria and South Australia held its first Rural Women’s Gathering at Murray Bridge in 1996. Since then Gatherings have been held each year and has attracted many women from across the State.
Gatherings offer women involved in primary production an opportunity to meet and network with other women involved in primary production as well as other industries and businesses. Gatherings are supportive atmospheres in which women can question, learn and network. The diversity of women, industries, sectors, lifestyles, cultures, information and workshops promotes good rural business which mean sustainable and strong rural communities.

The 2016 SA Rural Women’s Gathering will be the 20th Gathering and will be held in the Riverland, predominately in Renmark but encompassing and showcasing all of the Riverland.
The Theme is “Our River, Our Environment” and the logo tells the story of the 2016 gathering and our unique environment and life style.

The program will feature key note speaker Gill Hicks and guest speakers including Barbara Fenner, Hon Karlene Maywald and Liz Harfull and the opening and closing ceremonies, workshops and entertainment will be held at the Chaffey Theatre in Renmark. Other activities such as tours are being organised to show case all of the Riverland and our River.
Fundraising from the event will support the Riverland Women's Shelter.

The Rural Women’s Gathering  Committee has invited tenders for catering and advertisements have been placed in the Region's newspapers and interested organisations should contact Rita Perre on 0437 321 107 for more information.

Renmark Paringa Council's New Brand
Renmark Paringa Council is proud to launch its new brand known as 'RP' and also our redeveloped website.
Our website was last updated in 1999 and an upgrade was much needed. We have given the website a stronger focus in Tourism as we want our beautiful environment to be showcased to not only the community but tourists alike.
The re branding was borne out of the website redevelopment project. This is being done 20 years since the amalgamation of Renmark and Paringa and we are the last of the three Riverland Councils to change our branding since each amalgamated.
Although there are many towns within our Council Region, we have focused on the two towns which were amalgamated 20 years ago; Renmark and Paringa.
The colours chosen represent who and where we are.  The River which plays a vital role in all our lives here is at the heart of our new brand and the ocher soil represents the rich earth which many of our industries depend on.
Council has considered the costs involved and we would like to assure the community that they are being kept to a minimum. This will be a phased approach and although there will be some initial costs in year one to replace prominent signage we will not replace everything immediately. We will replace branding when asset renewal occurs.
We are very excited for the next chapter of the Renmark Paringa Council brand and we are sure that we will be met with some hesitation as most brands do but we would like to remind everyone of the reaction which was shared for the State Brand and and how that has changed.
We appreciate feedback on our website and if we have forgotten anything please let us know by clicking here.
Did you know that the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) commenced work on the Lyrup Ferry Ramp (eastern side) on Wednesday 8 June, 2016? Repairs will be made to the Lyrup Ferry ramp (eastern side), with works expected to be completed by Friday 8 July, 2016, weather permitting.
Works on the ramps will be completed in two stages to ensure the ferry remains accessible at all times during these important works.
The public are asked to please take extra precaution when driving past the work zone.
DPTI thanks ferry users for their patience.
As always thank you to everyone for all your incredible hard work in organising all these wonderful events, activities and ideas; it makes our community a vibrant place to be!
