RENMARK PARINGA COUNCIL UPDATE
Annual Business Plan Proposed Priority Projects
Renmark Paringa Council have been in consultation with the community on a number of projects during the past twelve months, such as the Infrastructure and Asset Management Plan, Tracks and Trails Strategy and Economic Development Strategy. Once the strategic plans are endorsed, the proposed activities and priorities within each strategic plan form the basis of the Annual Business Plan each year.

Council has collated the key priorities and activities from the strategic plans in preparation for developing the Annual Business Plan for 2016/17 and we are looking to the community to provide feedback as to whether these strategies meet the needs and wants of the community.

Council is hosting the Australia Day Breakfast on Tuesday January 26 2016 at the Jarrett Memorial Gardens from 8am-9am, followed by the official ceremony at 9.20am. We are utilising this opportunity to launch our 28 day public consultation on the proposed projects. Additionally we will also have our Director of Corporate and Community Services ‘Tim Vonderwall’ in attendance who will be happy to answer any queries regarding Council’s strategies. To view the 'Proposed Priority Projects' for the 2016/17 financial year please click here. Information on how feedback can be provided is also available.

From Wednesday 27 January, hard copies will be available to view at the Renmark Paringa Council Civic and Community Centre, 61 Eighteenth Street for 27 days and the consultation period will close on Tuesday 23 February at 5pm.

We are committed to a sustainable future but this can only be done by all of us working together and agreeing on the same goals.
Surveys for Renmark Swimming Pool and Renmark Health and Fitness Centre
Renmark Paringa Council’s leases for the Renmark Swimming Pool and the Renmark Health and Fitness Centre are expiring in the coming months and we are now exploring options for the 2016/17 financial year.
In order to understand the needs and wants of the community, Council have developed a survey for each of the facilities. These surveys seek to understand what the potential community expectations are of the facilities. Council will include community feedback when approaching the market so any potential operators can indicate how they will address community views.

This is your opportunity to tell us what you want to see from your local Swimming Pool and Health and Fitness Centre. Council cannot guarantee to implement all suggestions but will attempt to do so where possible, but will certainly provide the information on to potential service providers.

We appreciate that your time is valuable and as such when you complete the survey/s you will be placed into a draw to win a family pass to the Renmark Swimming Pool for the 2016/17 Season (Pool Survey) and/or 1 of 5 passes to the Renmark Health and Fitness Centre. To complete the Renmark Swimming Pool survey please click here and to complete the Renmark Health and Fitness survey please click here.

The Renmark Swimming Pool and Renmark Health and Fitness Centre surveys will open on Thursday 21 January and will close at 5pm 19 February. Please see below for key dates as to when a member of Council staff will attend the facilities:
  • Monday 1 February – Renmark Health and Fitness Centre (5pm-6pm)
  • Thursday 28 January – Renmark Swimming Pool during (2-4pm)
  • Saturday 13 February – Renmark Health and Fitness Centre (Morning)
For more information please direct queries to Director of Corporate and Community Services ‘Tim Vonderwall’ either by email ‘council@renmarkparinga.sa.gov.au’ or phone 8580 3000.
COMMUNITY HEALTH AND WELL BEING
Dean Semler's Road to Hollywood
The community may recall a visit to Renmark in November 2013 by Australian Cinematographer, Dean Semler AM. Dean visited Renmark after being contacted by students from St Joseph's School Renmark, where he spent time with them to write, direct and edit a short film titled 'Renmark Rascals'. During his time in Renmark, he invited
fellow cinematographer and journalist friend, David Brill, to join him and capture the trip. This has resulted in the documentary, 'Dean Semler’s Road to Hollywood' which will air on SBS this Saturday 23 January from 5.30-6.30pm and will be available for viewing afterwards online at SBS On Demand.
