Merry Xmas <<First Name>>,
Wishing you all a Digital Detox Xmas. Yes, an end to this year that is more about presence than presents, real interactions and true attention.

My husband suggested the other day that he will put his phone and computer away on Christmas Eve and not look at it until New Year's Day. Quite an aspirational achievement in this day and age where looking at our phone has become more habitual than anything else. Whether we actually need to check something, it's an act of boredom or simply a distraction from real life, the constant interruptions of our beloved phones are taking us away from true connections and real interactions...

I'm going to follow the example of my husband and put my digital stuff away from today until the New Year. I have never before done a digital detox but can see that never before has the need for it been greater.

In this last week of the year, my aim is to reflect on events and developments that have happened, while enjoying being more in the moment. I'd like to give people around me my full attention.

The picture below is literally taken the minute before I'm sending this newsletter, from the very spot where I am sitting right now... on a terrace overlooking the sea on an island of Malaysia. Ed and I are on our honeymoon and I will do my utmost to enjoy this time.

"The most precious gift we can offer anyone is our attention.

When mindfulness embraces those we love, they will bloom like flowers."

Thich Nhat Hanh

"Your vision will become clear when you look in to your heart.

Who looks outside, dreams.

Who looks inside, awakens."

Carl Jung

May I suggest you join me for a week of  digital detox. Perhaps it will help you to be fully present and connected to whatever experience you are having. After all, being more mindful will lead to less stress, a feeling of clarity, calm and stillness, not to mention an overall sense of wellbeing.

Would love to hear how you got on... in the New Year (that is).

Another way, to help practice mindfulness and tune in to you mental and physical health is to sign up to one of the exciting Scandoir retreats in 2017. See below for more details and as always, any questions, just give me a shout.

Here's to a Digital Detox Xmas and a Healthy New Year.
