January - The centrepiece, start of the twelve
Ending January with a finished chassis, what more can you wish for. In the oncoming month the first components will be added to our monocoque and the URE12 will slowly take its form!
Chassis manufacturing proces
There they are, the two halves of the URE12 Chassis. After a few weeks of laminating and curing they were released from their molds. After carefull finishing of the edges the two halves will be glued together and result in the chassis of our 3rd 4-wheel driven electric racecar.
First testing of 2017
Due to a short period of time where the temperature was below 0 degrees celcius, no testing could be done. However yesterday the weather allowed us for yet another testday with the 2016 car! More data was gathered to improve control systems of the 2017 car, the URE12.
Starting the wiring harness
Today the first preperations were done to start with the wiring harness! An important part of our car responsible for all low voltage systems and communication. Using a 2D template the wires are placed correctly and connected to the connnectors. The Lemo connectors added to this wiring harness are of upmost importance!
On the 17th and 18th of January we were on the Smart Mobility Square at the Infratech fair at Ahoy Rotterdam. This fair is all about the future of infrastructure. Together with Forze from Delft we energized people about electric driving
EVOdays is a new event to be held in june this year for electric vehicles. Here Formula Student electric teams can test their cars for the 2017 season to make sure they are ready for the racing season. Some of the organisers of EVOdays came by to check our workplace and car, afterwards they wrote this TechBlog! Click the picture to know more:
The URE12 design
In a few weeks the date of the car presentation will be presented together with a digital rollout of the URE12. As a teaser of our design the silhouette of the new racecar is displayed below. Stay tuned for the renders!
Information days TU/e
At the information days of our university we displayed the URE11. Our electric racecar drew a lot of attention from the younger generation, making them more enthusiastic about electric driving and engineering!
