October - Design, Test, Manufacture
It is the first monday of November, which means another newsletter! Since the last update the team has taken off with full spirit by testing the URE11, designing new parts and starting the production of parts for the URE12!
Faces of the board, from left to right.
  • Dennis van den Brandt (Control, Electronics and Software)
  • Thijn Verburg (Vehicle Dynamics)
  • Jesse Koenders (Team, Operations and Finance)
  • Oscar Scholle (Powertrain and Testing)
  • Bart Zeelen (Chassis and Aerodynamics).
Testing, Testing, Testing
To make sure the URE12 can be used optimally when finished, the URE11 is used as a testplatform. Every week the team can be found on our testtrack to improve control software, suspension set-up and collect data for validation and improvement. The weekly testdays will continue for as long as possible, so hopefully no snow this winter!
The Production Phase
It has been eight weeks since the start of the URE12 year, and the first parts of the car are already produced! The honor goes to the pedalbox of the URE12. A big thanks to the Equipment and Protoype Centre for producing the first parts!
Bremsenreiniger!
We would like to thank Wepp for their distribution of technical chemical products. Now we can clean our car, degrease surfaces and treat our coupling balls better than ever!
The precision fair
URE will be present at the precision fair again this year! It will take place on the 16th and 17th of november at the NH Conference Centre Koningshof in Veldhoven. Come see the URE11 at stand 214 and check out our final drive system at the wall of fame! More information is available by clicking the logo below:
Kart Challenge
Last week we had our famous Kart Challenge! A great teambuilding activity and also a good way to see the skills of potential drivers. Maybe some of the new teammembers can climb the ladder and find themselves in the position of driver for the  Formula Student 2017 season!
Business Cards
Two weeks ago our businesscards from drukhetnu.nl arrived. Hopefully these will improve communication possibilites and lead to new collaborations with the high-tech industry!

The rules of Formula Student
The Formula Student Germany (FSG) organisation has released it´s new rule document. As stated by the organisation: "A lot of work has been done to generate a combined document, which simplifies things in many areas and updates others to the state-of-the-art." Unfortunately, these rules differ significantly from the FSAE rules in terms of Aerodynamics and Chassis. Designing, fabricating and validating two aerodynamics packages and a new lay-up for our CRFP monocoque takes up a lot of time and resources. Currently Formula Student Germany and Formula Student Austria (FSA) have reported to use the FSG ruleset, FSUK has reported to use a personal version of the FSAE ruleset.

Because time and resources are a rare commodity we have decided not to participate in the FSUK competition this year. We are currently looking for another Formula Student competition to fill in this spot.

Team Building
For a succesfull year, we need to make sure the URE12 team can withstand a year of Formula Student, both in prosperity and decay. To do this URE will go on teamweekend on the 11th, 12th and 13th of November. This weekend full of team building activities and other sociabilities will bring back the team full of strength and motivation for the URE12 year of Formula Student. More information regarding the teamweekend will be shared in the next newsletter, as the location and activities are still a secret for everyone but the organisers!
