Dear NFU members and supporters,

The month of July has flown by, as I'm sure you can agree.  Agricultural fairs have begun across the province and will continue for the next few months.  The NFU will be present at various events this season, so keep an eye out for us!  If you have an event you would like to advertise with the membership, please send an email to info@nfunb.org so I can update it on our EVENTS calendar.

Eat Think Vote Campaign

Food Secure Canada has created a campaign to make food security an election issue.  There is a petition you can sign, resources you can access to help you organize an event in your area, and a helpful document here to speak with your local candidates about the needs of new farmers and the overall farming industry.

Supply Management and the Trans Pacific Partnership

Read an opinion article by NFU President, Jan Slomp on the effects that the TPP would have on supply management, particularly the dairy industry.  You can also read the commentary in the Telegraph Journal online.

Listen to a NS Dairy Farmer explain the effects the TPP would have on supply management on CTV Atlantic, July 28, 2015.

Former NFU-NB President, Jean-Eudes Chiasson, discusses the effects farmers may feel with the sale of CO-OP Atlantic's grocery business. Click the title to read the interview. (Available in French only)
