In your Grow Lightly vegie-bag 1/11/15

Hi everyone

A couple of people have queried the list from last week.
It included all the items that went into any of the bags - but not all the bags included everything. The same thing happened this week. We try to assemble a balanced bag, but sometimes we don't have enough of one item for everyone and have to make up with something else. This week, for instance, people were given either spring onions or beetroot, either wild rocket or a little broccoli. Apart from grapefruit, apples were the only fruit this week so we gave you a good number.
The other thing is that the weekly email (this one) applies to the vegiebag packed the Sunday before, not the Sunday after. Check the date on the top if you're not sure.

Apples - Royal Gala, Pink Lady or Fuji - from Fankhauser apples at Drouin
Avocadoes - from Gippsland Food Forest at Koorooman
Beetroot - from Korumburra Hospital Garden
Broad beans - from Cafresco Organics at Kooweerup
Broccoli - from Cafresco Organics at Kooweerup

Carrots - from Home Grown Vegies at Leongatha South
Grapefruit - from Gippsland Food Forest at Koorooman
Lettuces - from Jjaras at Inverloch
Mushrooms - from Gippsland Mushrooms at Dalyston
Parsnips - from Home Grown Vegies at Leongatha South

Potatoes - from Lindsay Hotchkins at Thorpdale
Snow peas - from Julie Riley at Dumbalk
Spring onions - from Jjaras at Inverloch
Wild rocket - from Korumburra Hospital Garden

We didn't put it in a paper bag, but everyone should have one. Di Tod's avocadoes are one of the special items Grow Lightly enjoys. When it gets to you it will still be very firm. Leave it on your kitchen bench and enjoy looking at it until it softens just enough to eat. What kind is it? A Bacon. Yes, you can keep the pip and grow a tree from it, but it won't necessarily come true to type, and will take a long time to bear fruit.

Till next week
