Do you ever get that fire in your belly that you want to do more than what you are doing – to truly make a difference? I know it well, and for years I pushed it down as I became too busy to do anything about it.

While I always made it my mission to add value to the lives of others, I knew there was a greater purpose. The fire to contribute was burning stronger. 

What I didn’t expect, was to find my purpose in the middle of the Thailand jungle, in the shape of a boy named Q. Q’s mother had died from AIDS related causes, and his father died from similar complications, leaving Q on his own to survive. My heart ached for him and we instantly bonded.

Having a quick walk around the village in Kaper it was easy to see that sadly Q’s story is not unique; there were many more children faced with extreme poverty and the burden of surviving on their own. 

Within months I established The Q Foundation, a charity dedicated to giving hope, health and happiness to children in need. I’m so excited to share that our success stories are growing and we are now sponsoring over 50 children, giving them access to clean water, healthy food, a roof over their head, healthcare and education. 

I now get to live a life of true contribution and it is incredible. In this issue I’ll show you how you can too. 

Five ways to live a life of true contribution

Life is a continuum of learning. Learning about others, the world around us and more importantly learning about ourselves. Through this learning process though, we can often discover how selfish we really are. 

Even in times when we are seen to be generous, our hidden motives may not be as noble or pure as we’d have everyone believe. So is it possible to master the journey of going from selfish to selfless?

•    Servicing children’s basic health needs, such as food, clean water and medical care
•    Assisting with the repair and/or construction of accommodation to provide children with suitable living conditions that protect them from the elements; and
•    Providing social welfare services to ensure the wellbeing of children
