April 2016

Thank you to everyone who helps SSP to help children in Swaziland receive an education.
Projects Update

Thanks to the Rotary Club of Nene Valley we have bought and erected two water tanks at Mnyokane Primary School.
Along with partner charity Changing Futures and with thanks to the King/Cullimore Trust, 30 women who volunteer to care for orphans and vulnerable children at various locations in Swaziland were brought together.

Nocembo is one of our partners in Swaziland and she writes: "The purpose was to teach them some practical skills about early childhood development and it proved a great success as well as great fun for all involved. The women were taught about encouraging learning through play, classroom discipline, storytelling, creative arts and crafts, and the day ended with a session where they made toys from waste items. The women learned how to communicate better with the children they look after and whereas they are not paid for what they do, they love and care for the children and understand the importance of their work in preparing them for school."

Trustee Visit

Keith Fossey has just visited Swaziland (at this own expense) and met with the brilliant team who manage our projects on the ground. He also visited many schools. The drought has meant that maize is in short supply and very expensive. Keith was able to provide food to a number of schools so the children could receive their daily meal.
