Recovery of Pinus nigra pinewoods in areas affected by large fires

In the Coll de Can Maçana, owned by the Fundació Catalunya-La Pedrera in Montserrat, the pine forests are being recovered, almost disappeared by the large forest fires. The action is to regulate competition on the low regenerate and strengthen through planting and seeding.

Formed a network of mature stands of black pine

The general objective of the action is to protect, improve the state of conservation and regulate the public use of a significant sample of mature stands of black pine in Catalonia. The black pine is a long-lived species that lives in climatic conditions with several stressors (summer drought, very cold winters and frequency of late frost).

First prescribed burning action C6

During January and February, in the region of Solsonès, GRAF Firefighters conducted prescribed burning in 10 hectares of forest in order to reduce forest fires risk and preserve pine forests. [Read more...]

Performance of treatments for fire prevention (C6 Action)

During March and April 2016 mechanical treatments of C6 action were made (this action covers two types of treatment: mechanical and prescribed burning) in the two areas of Pinusnigra distribution: Pre-pyrenean and central area and Southern area. [Read more...]

Imitation of lightning fires to preserve the structure of pine forests

On the 21th June, the Fire Brigade in collaboration with the Consortium of the Serra de Llaberia, applied low intensity fire in a pine forest of Llaberia. This action, named prescribed burning, intends to imitate the fire that would occur by the action of lightning, and aims at ensuring conservation of Corsican pine habitat . [Read more...]

More than 257 species of nocturnal butterflies inventoried in pine forests
Life Pinassa has given a total of 257 species of nocturnal Lepidoptera in different inventories, conducted in 13 locations. The nocturnal butterflies are indicative of the ecological complexity of the medium and key species in the pollination process.

On 8 March 2016 it was performed a coordination meeting of the project in the CTFC
At the meeting, which took place at the CTFC in Solsona, the status of the preparatory actions was reviewed and the following actions were discussed
