PTO Meeting--Learning Progressions in Math

Linda Gilbert, 4th grade teacher, is joining the PTO on Thursday night at 6:30.  During this time, she is going to lead a conversation around how elementary students progress in their math thinking.  She will link this information to ways that families can support their children at home.  We hope that you are able to join us.

Stop...Take A Breath

This month's PBIS focus is to stop and take a breath when we are having big emotions.  During October, teachers will take time to teach and reinforce calm down strategies.  Here is a link to this month's roll out video.

Bike Club
Dear DBS 2nd - 5th grade families,

We are excited to share that Bike Week will happen in October this year! (Oct. 25th- Nov. 5th)

The Bike Smart trailer will be visiting our school for TWO WEEKS.  This program brings around 30- 40 bikes (of all sizes), helmets, and bike skills training materials to our school at no charge. Your child will improve their bike skills through games and on-bike activities designed to help them become a safe and confident bike rider.

From the PTO

Dear DBS families,
This fall, we would like to show our dedicated DBS teachers and staff our sincere appreciation for all they do to help our children learn, feel safe, loved and feel connected to their school community. One way to do this is simply by filling the pantry.
Ever feel like you need a little snack to get you through the day? A piece of chocolate or a bag of chips that just hits the spot and give you the oomph to carry on? Whether your child is salty or sweet, here's your chance to say thanks in a small and simple way.
When you're out doing your grocery shopping, if you are able, toss some individually wrapped snacks in your cart and drop it off at school with your child. Donations can be made to the office and include a little note that says it is for staff to share. Need ideas? Granola bars, bags of chips/pretzels, chocolate, candy, cracker snacks, seltzer, etc.
Everyone needs a little boost every now and then. Show your favorite school some love by helping fill the snack pantry.  (There is no deadline for these wishlist items. If and when it fits your budget is the perfect time to share)
