A short history of planning application data projects

The latest Community & Councils news from mySociety

Last month we told you about our project to make residential planning applications across England available as Open Data.

Just hearing of it now? You can catch up here.

But this isn't the first time a digital approach to planning has been tried: in fact, mySociety itself has a bit of a history in this area. Mike looked back at some of the previous efforts.

If you have a special interest in this area, you might also like to read our regular updates on the project.

Towards more elegant integration

Community and cities at TICTeC

The schedule's now live for TICTeC, our conference on the Impacts of Civic Technology: see what's in store here.

For those with a particular interest in cities, councils and Civic Tech, there's plenty to get your teeth into. French MP Paula Forteza will present the solutions Civic Tech might provide to the uprising of the gilets jaunes; and countless practitioners from around the world share stories of tackling the issues that cities face.

Keynotes Alessandra Orofino from the Brazilian Nossas movement and James Anderson of Bloomberg Philanthropies also present practical solutions to the global urban issues of our time.

There's more information to help you navigate your way through the exciting schedule here.

And finally...

  • We're extending our research repository to include external studies that inquire into our services: find out more here.
