GEELONG REGION CROSS COUNTRY

SEASON 2016
ROUND 5 - BUNDOORA
Bundoora is the purest form of XC running in the XCR calendar. A course filled with hills and mud tends to even the playing field and allow some longer distance runners to keep up with their speedier track teammates.

As normal, Bundoora doubled as both the State XC Championships as well as the selection trials for the National Championships. The Juniors were also competing for school titles and selections.

Because of this, Bundoora tends to offer some very competitive racing and it this year didn't disappoint. Geelong had some very solid performances. A couple of highlights -

- Eamon Anderson had a massive breakthrough race to finish in 3rd position in the U20 Mens race. He ran a very smart race, working his way through the field. Can't find him in the results though sorry Eamon!
- Sarah Walker ran a 10km PB on what is definitely not a PB course. All looking good for her big 10km on the Gold Coast in 2 weeks!
- The Womens Premier Division team finished in 3rd place. It goes to show that when the girls can put a team together they know how to perform.
- A personal highlight for me (Julian) was to see the team environment that is continually fostered by the Geelong team and families. We are the ONLY team who warm up and cool down with each other and have loads of fun around the tent. It's something that the team should be very proud of.

Round 6 - Saturday 9 July- Sandown Relays
It's Relays up next at Sandown. This is normally a very strong event for Geelong and we really need the points to keep ourselves away from the bottom of the ladder in both mens and ladies premier divisions. When we get enough runners for a team we do score very well!

Please email your availability through  HERE. It's really important that we hear from everybody early and if you wish to run you will need to be registered with Aths Vic ASAP.
