GEELONG REGION CROSS COUNTRY

SEASON 2015
JELLS PARK WRAP UP
Geelong had another successful outing at the Jells Park Relays. The course condition was lovely and the menacing weather stayed away which made for ideal conditions and some fast running!

In the mens Premier Division, Ballarat Region brought a near Olympic strength team to Wheelers Hill. When the slow guy in your team is Steve Moneghetti and 4 athletes run under 18 mins, you're pretty much unbeatable. As such, our Premier division had a tight tussle with Knox Athletics for the minor placings. We eventually secured 3rd place and a great start to the season!

The ladies Premier division had their strongest start to a XC season in a very long while, finishing in 2nd position. With some consistent attendance from the top athletes, there's no reason why Geelong can't be a serious contender for their first Championship.

A massive THANK YOU to all those who volunteered to be Timekeepers. It is very much appreciated by all. Also, special thanks to The Running Company who paid entry fees for all teams at Jells Park.

Notable Performances -

The Entire Waters Family!
-Christopher, Rebecca and Rachel all recorded times within 14 seconds of each other. What a perfect training scenario!
- We had a tight selection decision with the ladies teams and it what we can now determine a poor decision, Sarah Waters was the runner that was left tout of DIV 1. She then went on to SMASH her leg of the relay and in the process, record the 2nd fastest time of the day for all Geelong women. Perfect way to let your running do the talking!

Olivia Hobbs
- Olivia is a new runner for Geelong. She is 14 years old. She also just ran the fastest leg of ALL the junior women. This includes SEVERAL national class runners in much older age groups. Wow. Keep an eye on Olivia this season.

U18 MEN
- The only Geelong team to score a win today. These 3 had a very tight spread with their timing and look to be in for a strong 2015.

Entries close at 12pm on May 9.

This is an individual race. Entries are via the AV portal and require payment if no series entry has been purchased.

A reminder email will be sent closer to the date. Given the great success for Geelong teams at Jells Park, it would be great to have as many athletes as possible get to Lardner for Round 2.
