GEELONG REGION CROSS COUNTRY

SEASON 2015
ALBERT PARK ROAD RACE WRAP

Brett asked last week if conditions got any better and they certainly gave it their best shot this morning at Albert Park! The usual wind off the Lake was non existent as runners tried to better new and long standing PB's on the road.

Nick Wightman was looking for his 4th win on the trot and gave himself every opportunity, hitting the track in the lead. With 150m to go it was Wightman leading Essendon's Mitch Brown. Both runners are known for their end of race kicks however it was Brown who narrowly edged out Wightman this morning. Alas, I guess you can't win them all Nick!

In the ladies race, Brianne Hook made her debut in the navy blue of Geelong and ran a big PB to lead the team home.

Geelong were a little lighter on with junior runners this week. The podium place getter was Olivia Hobbs, who continued her run of good form taking 3rd in the U16 girls 3km. She ran a very handy time of 10:19!
