Thank You For a Great 2016!

It's hard to believe that we began 2016 in Costa Rica and ended it in Peru. We began it in language school and I (Trevor) ended preaching the gospel in an unreached Quechua village as well as at our church's baptism service. We began this year with Betsy not having enough Spanish to carry on a conversation and ended it with her beginning to build some relationships with some sweet Peruvian women.  Thus, 2016 was a year of seeing the Lord's faithfulness toward us in many ways and one of the primary ways has been through those who pray for us and partner with us financially. You all have been an incredible blessing and encouragement to us throughout the year and we praise God for the gospel-relationships he has given us.

Hitting the Ground Running

We have been here in Cusco for seven weeks and the Lord is already opening plenty of doors for ministry. I recently had the opportunity to go with some Peruvian brothers and sisters to an unreached Quechua village a few hours away where my role was to preach a gospel message to the few hundred in attendance. My message in Spanish was translated into Quechua. We all had an amazing time sharing the gospel in various ways and ministering to the physical needs of the people.

Beyond that I had the privilege of preaching the message at the baptism service recently held by our church here and from January 7-14 I will be in Desaguadero, Peru, on the border of Bolivia (about 12,500 ft elevation). I will be there with a team from Reaching and Teaching training a group of about 30-40 Aymara pastors who have committed to go through our three year training program. Finally, I will be working with Pastor Jesus Presa on developing and starting a pastoral training institute here in Cusco. We hope to launch this in the first half of 2017.

At home

We are all settling in nicely to our new home. Betsy has begun homeschooling with the kids and has been practicing a lot of hospitality. Between hosting other missionaries who were visiting from Northern Peru, new friends here, a Christmas party for our team, and overnight guests, Betsy has been a blessing to our family as well as many others in our home. I am blessed to have a wife who helps us model the hospitality required of pastors (1 Timothy 3:2 and Titus 1:8).

Vehicle Update
The Lord has been providing faithfully towards the purchase of a vehicle. Again, we thank everyone who has prayed and given so sacrificially. We are very close to having all the funds needed. Since arriving we have learned that it is best to wait until we receive our residency visas to purchase a vehicle. Until then we are content to use the bus system around the city. Thank you again to everyone who has given and prayed thus far.

Praises
  • We are so thankful for each of you who pray for us and partner with us financially. We are truly blessed to have such a wonderful team of ministry partners.
  • We praise God for what He has provided toward our vehicle thus far.
  • We praise God for the immediate ministry opportunities that He has given us.
  • We are thankful for the new friendships that are being forged.
Prayer Requests
  • Continue to pray that our resident visa process would go well.
  • For Betsy and the children while I am gone teaching Jan 7-14.
  • That in the midst of all the busyness of trying to settle in we will set our hearts and minds on Christ.
  • Continued growth in our language and culture acquisition.
