At the end of this month, we will farewell
our current PeaceWiseKids Content and
Curriculum Manager, Viv Batt.
Viv started with us back in 2016 when the
kids project was only in its infancy. Since
coming on board, Viv has played an
integral part in getting PeaceWiseKids to
where it is today!
Before Viv passes on the baton to the new team (who we'll introduce next month),
we want to take the opportunity to thank and honour her.
We deeply value the person Viv is, as well as her many gifts and talents.
We are so grateful for the dedication, passion, and creativity that she has brought to the role.
The amazing PeaceWiseKids and PeaceWiseYouth courses and content bear the
hallmarks of her love, professionalism and passion and are her rich gift to all who use them.
We wish Viv all the very best and pray God's abundant blessing upon her and her
family as she steps into the next chapter of what God has in store for her life.
This year our National Training Program has two new training courses to assist you in helping others resolve their conflict!!
Everyday Conflict Coaching
This training is designed to help with those everyday conflicts and conversations we have with friends, family members, colleagues and neighbours.
Deeper into Conflict Coaching
This training is designed to help you gain a deeper understanding and provides more opportunity to practise conflict coaching at a deeper level. This is also a great option for those who have already completed our prior conflict coaching course.
So whether you're experienced in helping others struggling with conflict, or someone who has always felt ill-equipped to help someone in conflict, there is a conflict coaching course just right for you!
Shout out to all the kids who have helped develop PeaceWiseKids!
We have been developing PeaceWiseKids and PeaceWiseYouth for the last 3 years so far, and for each course we have been involving different groups of teens and children to help in various capacities.
So we want to give a big shout out to all the kids who have helped to keep the courses real and relevant. This includes all the kids from the Gold Coast as well as the kids from Covenant Christian School and Kings Christian College.
The image on the right was sent into us by
Phil McMaster, who is on the National
Leadership Team of the Australian arm of
Navigators and a participant at a recent
PeaceWise training we ran for them.
After the training, Phil decided
to summarise and capture the
content he had learnt from our first training
course, Everyday Peacemaking, on
We think it's terrific and thought we'd share it with you. Thanks Phil for your creativity in
summarising the course in this way!
We're not only thrilled that Phil took the time to consider and create this summary but believe
it demonstrates how God is using PeaceWise training to transform people's thinking about
conflict throughout Australia and in various ministries. Thank you Phil for sharing this with us
and encouraging us all!
We are very passionate about bringing God's message of peace to more and more people,
so if you're interested in equipping your organisation or church to be peacemakers please
contact our office on 02 9890 6516 or use our online enquiry form.
PeaceWise hubs are places that people
interested in biblical peacemaking can
connect, share and grow!
We would love for you to join us at one of
our upcoming hubs. If you don't have a
hub local to where you live and would like
to be involved in starting one up, please
As workplace conversations in the last month span from returning cricketers to resigning cardinals, David Coy has written a timely article on forgiveness, reminding us of Jesus' high calling on each of us to be a person who echoes God's forgiveness of us in how we treat others.
PeaceWiseKids continues to power ahead, and we are excitedly waiting for the first primary school course - for Years 5 and 6 - in time for Term 2. I'm particularly thankful for the incredible work of Viv Batt over the last three years, who will leave us shortly having now led the creation of the whole content for Years 5-10 - what a legacy in the lives of our children
Over the next month, the PeaceWise board will be holding its annual retreat in downtown sunny Woy Woy (yes, you heard me right), where we will pray and plan into the future of the ministry. We always spend a very significant time both sharing personally (as we only see each other in person together once a year), as well as listening deeply to what God has to say to us. Please pray for us as we seek God's leading and guidance on where and how he wants us to move forward as a ministry.
At this time, we will also be running both an onboarding retreat for the new PeaceWiseKids team (more on this dynamic bunch next month), as well as a train the trainer event for a bunch of new trainers from across the country. Not to mention a similar train the trainer event being held at PLC Sydney to equip a bunch of other trainers, including to teach Everyday Peacemaking for Schools - both for the open invitation events being hosted at Covenant Christian School in July and PLC Sydney on 7 August (more details to follow next month).
All this because we more and more organisations and people are wanting to learn how to be peacemakers, so we are building up our team who can teach these life-giving principles.
