Have you ever come across a strange animal or unfamiliar plant and wondered, “what is it?” Or have you had to try and explain what a certain concept is or word or phrase means, and struggled to do so easily?
Forgiveness is one of those concepts which whilst not unique to the Christian faith, is absolutely central to our faith and yet widely misunderstood. Many of us think that we know what forgiveness is – because we are familiar with the word - but do we fully understand it, how to explain it and most importantly how to show it? Read more
Until we meet again
It is with both sadness and joy that we announce the passing of Sue, the wife of our NT Director Geoff Bateman, onto eternity with her Lord Jesus Christ. Sue and Geoff shared their journey in a blog entitled, “Where Joy and Grief Mix and Merge”, which testifies to the love they had for each other and for their God. After nearly 2 years of dealing with colorectal cancer Sue completed her race on 24 May 2015 and is now at home with the Lord. We weep with Geoff and Sue’s family for the loss of Sue but rejoice in the knowledge that this is only a temporary parting. Until we meet again!
Off and running!
Our National training program for 2015 has now commenced with Canberra and Sydney training events having been held and Brisbane is on this week! There’s still time for those in other States to register so don’t miss out.
There are four possible registration discounts that might be applicable to you. Individual early bird and group early bird (5 or more) discounts enjoy substantial discounts if the registration is completed at least 2 months before the date of the relevant training. The popular Senior Minister’s Special 2 for 1 is also back - Senior Ministers who register for either Personal peacemaking or Conflict coaching can bring along another member of their church for FREE! Along with these specials – there is the Repeat Delegate special – if you have undertaken any of our courses before, but would like to come again, you can for just 50% of the regular delegate fee!
To start, get skilled in using biblical principles to deal with conflict in your life by doing Personal Peacemaking training. If you’ve done Personal Peacemaking already, now’s the time to get equipped to help others in conflict by taking Conflict Coaching. And if you’ve done Conflict Coaching, the next step is learning how to use a Christian mediation process in Mediation training. And for those wanting to learn how to deal with trickier situations in mediation, come and learn Advanced Mediation in Sydney this year.
A great way to review the basics of peacemaking is to read and study through books, like The Peacemaker (Ken Sande) or Resolving Everyday Conflict (Ken Sande and Kevin Johnson). Better still, why not use a small group study resource like Resolving Everyday Conflict Kit to teach a small group of people as you learn or re-learn peacemaking principles yourself? There are a number of DVD group studies that can be used – so check out our online store for what might be appropriate for your context and be a peacemaker pioneer in your church, school or neighbourhood!
