It's unlikely that Australia’s top statistician Mr David Kalisch will ever forget 9 August 2016! That's the day the new online Census system crashed. With vastly different explanations of what had happened and why.
The event was so huge that the hashtag #CensusFail became the biggest trending topic worldwide on Twitter. Worldwide!
So what are the lessons about truth for us in all of this?
Our last two national training events happen simultaneously in Perth and Darwin commencing on 17 September and whilst places are filling up - you can still register online. There is only one week left!
Many people can testify to how peacemaking has changed how they respond to conflict in their lives and how they wish they could have learnt this approach when they were younger. If you have had that "niggling" feeling that maybe you should attend, don't regret leaving it too late and missing out.
And if you want to learn how to conduct a Christian mediation - registering for the Perth Mediation training on 21 September is your last chance to do this in Australia in 2016! (You must have already completed both Personal peacemaking and Conflict coaching to be eligible to register for Mediation training.)
If you've come to our training before, why not come back and be refreshed and reminded? (It will only cost you half price of the regular delegate fee). Don't keep this good news to yourself - invite your Senior Minister and others to come along with you! The Senior Minister's (2 for 1) Special is too good to overlook!
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.(Hebrews 10:23-25)
The author of the book of Hebrews says that because God is faithful to us we can hope in him. He goes onto say that not only can we be hopeful because he is faithful to us but we can also continue to spur each other on towards being loving in word and action because of God's faithfulness to us. Meeting together is important. Don't give up doing this - even if others don't because this is a great way to do the "spurring"! Let's see if we can outdo each other in loving others!
PeaceWise hubs are one of the get togethers by which you can be encouraged to continue being loving and doing good deeds. So grab the opportunity to be recharged, refilled and refreshed to love others! If you have any questions or want to know more about hubs please click here or feel free to contact us.
As you may have noticed, we are just "a little" excited about PeaceWise Kids - our new project growing "peacemakers for life"!
Our vision is to create peacemaking material for children aged from 5-17, using web-based delivery, contemporary teaching methods and an attractive and interactive style. The pilot for school years 7 & 8 is being worked on right now for completion by the end of this year. Our goal is to complete the content for years 5-10 by end of 2017, and the rest of the content by the end of 2018.
You can be part of bringing this vision to life by:
giving financially to PeaceWise Kids - either with a once off gift or as a regular donor or fundraising as a group to donate.
For more info about what's happening with PeaceWiseKids, check in regularly here to our special PeaceWiseKids page which we update regularly with the latest news.
Low cost professional indemnity insurance for mediators
We understand and take very seriously the privilege we have of assisting people in conflict and pain. We strive not only to help people resolve their conflict, but also to reconcile with each other (and ultimately with God).
We also seek to support those who work as mediators in cases which come to us. These people work as direct contractors with their mediation clients, while PeaceWise does admin for the case.
So we recommend that anyone who's working professionally as a Christian mediator takes out professional indemnity insurance. We've even done the hard yards with Marsh Insurance Brokers and Vero Insurance so that affordable professional indemnity insurance for mediators (with a policy coverage agreed with us) is available for you to purchase.
We get no commission or other fee - it's just something we wanted to do to support the people who mediate the cases we get - so please consider!
The stories keep coming from across the country of those who've found our training engaging, empowering and life-changing.
One story is of a building manager who found a new way to have a powerful and productive conversation with a tenant, another is of a sister who was able to lovingly engage with an estranged brother, another is of the husband and wife who apologised and forgave each other and found new peace in their marriage.
And that's what this ministry is all about - our great God of peace making it possible for us to have peace with others and with him.
That's why we're working to develop new peacemaking resources for children with PeaceWiseKids. That's why we're developing new adult courses for 2017. And why we're so keen for you to join us in our hubs and training events too. We treasure your prayers, your encouragement, your volunteering and your support.
It's all part of helping our nation, our communities and our own personal relationships reflect the beauty, grace and peace of the God who gives life.
