A Letter from the Director
Happy New Year from Georgetown Ballet!
It's been a great first year for Georgetown Ballet!! While we were very happy with the turnout at our first Nutcracker in 2014, we were bowled over by the more than 400 people in attendance at this year's show! Thank you again! To see pictures from the show by photographer Sara Erensoy, visit www.georgetownballet.org/gallery.
Here are some of the exciting highlights from our first year:
The company expanded from only 5 dancers to 12 as we added several students as trainees. Our performances included Nutcracker, as well as Act III of The Sleeping Beauty at Southwestern University, with guest artists from Ballet San Antonio, plus an appearance at the Red Poppy Festival. This year's Nutcracker featured guest artist, Journy Wilkes-Davis, formerly with Columbia City Ballet.
In September we had our first company audition and we look forward to our next this February. In December, a stunning photo of dancer Kelley Hashemi was featured on the cover of Georgetown View Magazine, accompanied by a lovely article on how we got started.
This year we have even bigger plans for a full-length production this fall. More details on that coming soon!
We also hope to offer even more Nutcracker performances this year, plus some exciting fundraising events this spring/summer.
As always, thank you for being a member of our list, and again, Happy New Year!!
