Shabbat Shalom,

We are almost through the marathon of the High Holy Day Season with only Simchat Torah and Sh'mini Atzeret to celebrate. I am sure you would agree that our Yamin Noraim this year was lovely and enhanced by the introduction of our new machzor, Mishkan T'shuvah.

During Simchat Torah we will celebrate members of our congregation who have gone over and above, adding to the vibrancy and the holiness of the "work" that we do.

This year we celebrate with Andrew Sward, Chatan Torah; Ginny Klooger Kallah Bereishit; Tamara Kay, Junior Kallah Torah and Abby Goldstein, Junior Kallah Bereishit. These exceptional volunteers have contributed to our congregational programming and our youth programs and we are grateful to them and by extension, to their families, for their time and commitment.

I would also like to highlight something I shared with you in my Yom Kippur Morning Sermon.  Many of you were there and responded positively, albeit with deep concern, for the rise of Anti-semitism in our Melbourne Jewish Community.  In my sermon, I referred to #SHOWUPFORSHABBAT

This campaign began last year after the Pittsburgh Tree of Life Synagogue shooting, where 11 shule go-ers, just like us,  were tragically and innocently gunned down for being Jewish. The weekend after the mass shooting, the American Jewish Community encouraged people, in solidarity, to go to shule. To not deviate from their routine.

This year, #SHOWUPFORSHABBAT will be on the weekend corresponding to the actual massacre.  We at TBI will be part of this campaign and we encourage you to #SHOWUPFORSHABBAT. The dates for #SHOWUPFORSHABBAT are 25-27 October as we Gather, Remember and Act.  More information will be in the Rabbi's desk email and the Kol Yisrael supplement next week.

Thank you to everyone who generously donated to our Mazon Bag Appeal. We have had a fantastic response. Nicole Brown from our Project Dignity Group will be delivering them to the Asylum Seekers Resource Center on 28 October, so there is still time for you to bring your bag in.
Bubs & Bagels, led by Natalie Stone and Ido Sagir is at the usual time of 10 am Friday morning.

Services begin with Heneinu at 6pm, where Patrick & Beth  provide an opportunity for personal and communal prayer. Kabbalat Shabbat Sukkot is in the main sanctuary at 6.15pm. We are delighted to celebrate the naming of baby Ryan Joseph Teitel Menheniott.

Members and friends of the Next Dor Group will be enjoying "Sushi in the Sukkah", commencing at 7.30pm.  All 25-40 year olds are welcome. If you would like to join them, please visit LINK for more information.
Shabbat Hol Hamoed Sukkot is at 10am. Owen Taylor will celebrate his bar mitzvah at a Mincha service at 3pm on Saturday. We wish his parents Cathy &  Michael and his siblings, Grace, Isaac and Amelia a huge mazal tov!

We invite you all to join us on Sunday at night for a joyous celebration during which the Torah scrolls are taken from the ark and carried by congregants around the synagogue. Simchat Torah Maariv is at 6.15pm
The following morning is Shacharit Sh'mini Atzeret at 10am. We are delighted to recognise our amazing volunteers through the awarding of honours as our Chatan and Kallah Torah. Yizkor will be recited during this service.
